Lol...I screwed up the name. I was trying to remember the name of the shortstop from that Jackson, MS area that suppose to be badass. Everybody thinks he will go pro but if he doesn't who is leaning to?
Oh Kaleb. Fairly familiar with him since I went to school at Prep. I know that Coach Rob is recruiting him since I've seen him with Coach Rob and Coach Moss. He's an exception athlete both in baseball as well as football. I'll ask some people down in Jackson that still do Patriot baseball about him.
.520 BA, 15 HRs, 47 RBI, 1.130 SLG, 9 Ks in 100 ABs, 8-9 SBs. His only problem is his .894 fielding percentage.
Luke Maddox is also a pretty phenomenal player for Prep but I don't know if he's going to get the D1 interest that Barlow got. His brother was on scholarship at Ole Miss before being forced out in a numbers issue and ended up at Millsaps and is currently the closer for the Majors.
Thanks, the kid has a bat on him and the strikeout ratio is unbelievable. One of my friends who knows Kaleb said that he's already gotten some interest from MLB teams and it's no surprise.
Also, I heard someone the other day that said Renfroe had told them that he wanted to go to college for a couple of years first. If true thats great news.
The Rebels have now picked up commitments from the top two junior pitchers in the state with Casey Green of DeSoto Central committing. Three kids from Mississippi committed already. Surprising given our general lack of recruiting in Mississippi. Another surprising bit is that we haven't gone after anyone in the Memphis area in the 2009 or 2010 classes.
The Rebels picked up their 6th commitment of the 2010 baseball class with the verbal commitment of Gabe Woods. Woods hit .489 as a junior while playing at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond, LA with 7 HRs and was 1st team all-state.
Ole Miss picked up their 7th baseball commitment of the 2010 class with catcher Will Allen from Florida's backyard of Gainesville. Allen was recently rated a 9.5 on Perfect Games's 1-10 scale.
The Rebels got a commitment from one of the top players in Georgia in 1B/3B Jordan Poole. The right handed Poole hammered 16 HRs as a sophomore and 17 HRs as a junior. He's rated a 9.5 out of 10 on the Perfect Games scale and was named to the Top Prospect Team at the 2007 National Underclass Showcase.
Between Poole, Overbey, Judon, and Wahl, the 2010 class is loaded with gap to gap power hitters.
A day after picking up one of the top prospects in Georgia in Jordan Poole, the Rebels got a commitment from one of the top prospects in Florida in Casey Mulholland. Mulholland is rated as the #5 prospect in Florida by Prospectwire and is a 10 out of 10 on the Perfect Games scale indicating potential top 3 round draft pick in the MLB Amateur Draft.
Mulholland chose Ole Miss over many of the top programs in the country such as Florida, LSU, Miami, and North Carolina.
