Default Terrico White tabbed for Freshman All-America
Terrico White Named Freshman All-America By Multiple Outlets - OleMissSports.com—Official Web Site of University of Mississippi Athletics

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss rookie sensation Terrico White has recently been named a Freshman All-America selection by several media outlets.

The 6-foot-5 guard out of Memphis, Tenn., was tabbed to CollegeInsider.com’s Freshman All-America squad and earned second-team recognition from CBSSports.com and NaismithLives.com.

White received SEC Freshman of the Year honors from the league coaches, Associated Press and most other outlets after he averaged 18.4 points per game in conference play, most among SEC freshmen and fourth-most among all players. He excelled in his new role as the team’s point guard when he was forced to move there from his natural position on the wings after an injury to Chris Warren midway through the season. He racked up at least 20 points in nine games, including five straight 20-point outings to close out the season. White also received All-SEC second team recognition from the coaches and the media and was a unanimous choice for the SEC All-Freshman squad.

“Terrico White is extremely underrated on the national scene,” said NaismithLives.com senior writer Adam Stanco, “And during the last two months of the season he was probably playing as well as anyone in the Southeastern Conference.”

Other Rebels who have earned Freshman All-America status in school history include Joe Harvell (1990) and Justin Reed (2001).

White is expected to be one of a host of returnees for Ole Miss in 2009-10, including starting guards David Huertas and Zach Graham and starting forward Murphy Holloway from last year’s team, to go along with returning injured players Warren, Eniel Polynice and Trevor Gaskins, who were all expected to play major roles prior to their injuries.
