Simply put, the Klan showed up because we are ridding ourselves of traditions that could be seen as hateful or insensitive. Anyone that can read will be able to see that. As for MSU (or any other school) trying to use that against us, all we have to do is point to players like Grandy and Patterson and say, look at the rest of the teams in the SEC, with a win over state we will be third, we have lots of freshman getting to play, and we are going to have a lot of holes to fill so lots of you can play on a team that had 8+ win seasons back to back next year. Or you can go to state that has had no bowl appearances in two years and will be transitioning a new qb next year.

Well put. I think some recruits will see it like that sooner or later.

2009 Signee Cameron Whigam, a 6'4 245lbs DE from Lithonia, GA will enroll at Ole Miss on January 4th. He recently got cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse.

Also rumors are swirling that Arkansas OL Matt Hall is suppose to be transferring to Ole Miss in some form via JuCo or paying his own way for a semester.
If true, that'd put us in the drivers seat for his younger brother, a 2011 prospect highly sought after OL.

there will be quite a few very good recruits that will be evenly spit between om and state. with the cutdown in scholly offers possible, and positions filling up, there are alot of very good recruits out there. both schools will be getting solid talent from in state, its just a matter of who gets the ones they really want. there are excellent 4 and 3* guys across the board and with the rosters filling up the way they are, i think even so miss will get some solid guys. there just arent enough spots anymore.

Shamoan makes a good point. When you can only sign 28 and admit 25 (22 for the Rebs this year), that means the wealth is gonna get spread around.

Right now OM has 10 or 11 commits, depending on the service you follow, and that doesn't include Swindall, Marry, and Whigham, who will all count against the 22 mentioned above. That leaves only 8 or 9 spots for qualifiers and 15 or 16 overall, assuming all committed do sign.

we are about in the same boat...i wouldnt mind if we pulled 2 or 3 schollys weve already offered. nobody ever wants that to happen, but there are some guys we have signed that i wish we hadnt considering there is alot of great talent still out there unsigned and uncommitted. southern miss is going to rack up this year. just not enough spots.

edit: ill excuse myself, just wanted to get some thoughts about instate talent being left on the table from both our schools.

4* safety Damien Jackson committed today per Rivals. He is a safety JuCo transfer.

Nice. Jackson has all the physical tools to be a stud. We might have to use him next year. Should make an immediate impact.

Damien Jackson is a huge pick up guys, now hopefully Tig returns for next year aswell.
That's what now? 14 commitments including Mike Marry, Evan Swindall, and Mike Thomas.
Which reminds me, anyone know if Artice Kellam and Cameron Whigham will be counted for this class or last class? I imagine since Whigham is enrolling in January he will be counted towards his original signing class. Kellam is at a NC prep school so prolly this class... That's what i've gathered anyway.

We can only take 22 this year due to APR fiasco with last staff however we can still greyshirt or juco 6 of them. (28)

Who do y'all think we land?
Personally I think we'll get these and IDK about any OL, looks grim there.
Carlton Martin (lock)
Carlos Thompson OR Byron Bennett
Wayne Dorsey
Mount Carmon
Mencie (The JuCo Corner)
Vincent Sanders
Robert Johnson

I think we'll end up greyshirting a couple that are already commited to us, one being Jared Duke. Jeff Scott likely ends up JuCo

Even with only 22 available, if we land the ones I mentioned and a few more surprises could be the best class we've ever inked.
I'm really excited about Mackey but outside of the Wild Rebel I don't know where he'll play exactly, my guess is at slot receiver. Hopefully he signs in Dec and has the spring ahead of him.

I've heard Tig will be back. But i think we should maybe get one or two more secondary players and really focus on OL and DL after that. We have playmakers on offense to burn. Mackey is already with us. Neat, scott, grandy. We should be set on offense.

Definitely OL should be main targets then DL.. we have 3 dbs commited well 4 with Jackson.. just need that juco corner and we are set.. maybe another linebacker or a bigger RB.. I dont think we should keep getting smaller backs expecting McCluster type of production.. it wont happen he is rare..

Yeah but they all could be very productive. Speed still kills.

We really need physical guys in the secondary. Glad we got jackson. He's 6-3

Whigham will count towards this class. He never enrolled so he cannot count towards last year's. Kellam may not make it out of his prep school. Still struggling with his standardized tests.

Dequan(sp?) Menzie, good sized corner with ton of offers from top schools...
We're on top for him I think I read that on Scout..

Also add Quayshawn Neely to the list of probables. He slipped my mind yesterday kid can flat out ball I watched his HS game that was on ESPN months ago and he dominated and got a pick 6.

Cianne has the scoop, I was thinking Kellam to JuCo but didnt have any info on it...
