If I had to take a guess, he'd be out to the Florida game so he'd miss the first four games of the season. The good news is that all of those should be wins except for Wake which is anyones guess (though we'll be the underdogs in Winston Salem). The official website has a press release up about him now saying six to eight weeks though.

I really believe that we will be ok with Kentrell Lockett starting in Hardy's place. I think he's equal in talent but the presence will be lacking. The bigger problem though is that former starting end Marcus Tillman has moved down to DT due to the Laurent injury so DE is really thin now with just Lockett, Stephens, and Armour. However, maybe we will get to see big 6'8" Jermey Parnell of the basketball team getting some on the field reps.

Honestly, I think this could be bad. This is a team that is still trying to get a mentality that they can be a successful team, and when you lose someone as explosive as Hardy, it's gotta be disheartening. I hope to see him make a quick recovery, and am glad they addressed it as soon as they did so he doesn't have to miss too much of the season. I agree with Cianne, Lockett is a good player that played DE last year and had some success, but still, he's not Hardy...

The key to the defensive mentality is Peria Jerry. If he's in the game, it should stay high enough.

I completely agree, Peria is the heart and soul of this defensive unit.
Also, i believe Greg makes it back for the Alabama game at the earliest; Coach Nutt is going to listen to Tim on when he will be available as to avoid gtting in too early. Knowing Greg, he will WANT to come back by the Florida game, but will not be cleared in time. Alabama game for sure......

Hardy is a great player but with or without him Ole Miss will be fine. New coach, new starting QB and TB, and hopefully a new winning attitude within the program. I worked in Oxford on and off for the past 7 years. I think Coach O being replaced with Coach Nutt is the best to happen to the program since Eli graduated.
