Default Dolphins Missed the Boat on Drew Brees
What could have been: The New Orleans Saints play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, giving Drew Brees a chance to go up against the team that had two chances to grab him. Armando Salguero, who covers the Dolphins for the Miami Herald detailed the circumstances that led the team to pass on Brees when he was entering the NFL Draft in 2001 and when he was a free agent in 2006. Two figures with LSU ties play a role in the story: Nick Saban, who was leading the Dolphins in 2006 after leaving LSU, and renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, an LSU graduate who repaired Brees' shoulder. Read the full story here.

Brees has been heaven sent for the Saints. They are thriving under his leadership. I am glad he is coming on so strong this season.

I think Drew Brees is right behind Peyton and Brady as the best 1-2-3 QBs in the NFL. He is amazing. He showed flashes of what he could do in SD, but what he has accomplished at NO is mind-blowing. He has a bunch of weapons to be sure, but that shouldn't detract from what an amazing job he does. He very rarely throws a bad ball. Just a blast to watch. It was cool seeing Robert Meachem play last week and score a TD.
