Default Myths about the Clemson job
I'm paraphrasing something I found on another board but I agree with whats said.

1) Clemson is a great job:

The reasoning is because it is so easy to win in the ACC. I submit that any good coach, wanting a challenge, is not going to want it easy. Market it as easy and you're going to get some ne're-do-well looking for a free lunch and the first ass-whippin he gets, the fans will go ape-crap.

Not to mention: the ACC has laid low some good coaches. In other words the weakness of the ACC makes the man weak...it is not a plus.

2) The new Clemson coach will walk into a cupboard full of talent.

We saw what happened when clemson did not have CJ Spiller. An average GT team came in and beat them. Just think how it will be w/ CJ Spiller, Aaron Kelly, James Davis and Cullen Harper gone. They have no QB at all for 09 and the RBs have been the heart and soul for years. and that only got them minimal success in a very down ACC.

The truth: whoever gets the job will be on a pretty substantial rebuilding project, playing to fans who feel they've been overly patient for 10 years. Not a good equation.

They have Willy crack Korn and I don't care.

I heard on ESPN last night that Lane Kiffin is a candidate and near the top of their list.

Willy Korn is awful. He doesn't have a strong arm and he's injury prone.

I'd agree with much of that... it doesn't look like such a great job. As has been proven over and over; while they may have some talent at skill positions, they're sorely lacking along the lines. And, as everyone knows, without skill and depth there, the skill players are useless. Bowden recruited much like Zook did while he was at UF... sure, he'd get some big name, multi-star skill players; but he completely ignored the supporting cast and depth there. Meyer has been rectifying that ever since.

Anyway, whoever ends up at cLIMPson is taking on a monumental task, as was expressed in the original post. The fans are already restless; and it's probably going to get worse before it gets better. The school may have Kiffin at the top of its list; but that doesn't mean cLIMPson is at the top of Kiffin's. They'd probably have to pinch off serious money to lure him there... at least $3 million per.

Honestly, if he can't beat out Cullen Harper you can't really expect a whole lot. I remember all the tater-heads telling us how much better Korn was than Garcia. LMAO.

I remember them saying a lot of things... strangely, I can't find any of them willing to repeat any of it.
