Although I think this world would be a much better place without the Yankees, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and the Patriots, I still have to give it up for the Yankees. They pulled it through in the first year of their new stadium. Congrats Yankees and Congrats Yankee fans on here.

They're the evil empire of baseball...simple as that. It's just sad how not having a salary cap has hurt traditional orginizations like the Pirates, Orioles, and Reds. Thats not even mentioning how it hinders many more great teams like the Twins and Brewers for example.
Kinda sickening was baseball has become today. Congrats on 27 Yanks...you would of been laughable if you didn't make a run after signing CC, Tex and Burn anyway.

The part about the salary cap is certainly true. It just goes to show that in the world we live in today, money is the master. Very unfair.
I laugh at people who say baseball needs a salary cap. In reality, the way baseball works is better than the NFL. The salary cap killed trades. It causes more free agents, as teams release players who are not worth their cap space.
People complain about the Yankees high payroll. The Yankees operate at a yearly loss of revenue. Compare this to smaller market teams that spend no money on payroll and collect the $50+ mill revenue sharing/luxury tax (Pirates, Marlins, Nationals). These owners are pocketing millions of dollars to field a losing team, and piss off fans. The only way a salary cap would work is if there is a salary minimum as well. Even with the Yankees high payroll, what has it gotten them? Three world series appearances and one victory since 2001.
People say that a salary cap prevents dynasties and creates parody. I disagree. Look at the NFL. There have been dynasties since 1994, when the cap came into the league. Do I need to remind you of the patriots success? The patriots and colts have been two of the best teams of the last 10 years. Thy have dominated most seasons, and been in the playoffs if not the Superbowl almost every year.
There have been 8 different champions in the last 9 years in baseball. Compared to 6 of 9 in the NFL. Both sports have had 13 different teams play for a championship over the same time period. Explain how the NFL has more parody. They don't; its a myth.
Salary caps put teams on equal footing with the max they can spend. It doesn't do a thing for keeping talent equal. The Lions, Redskins, and Raiders, can spend as much as the Giants, Patriots and Steelers, yet still suck, while the latter teams have been in multiple Superbowls, and dominate their divisions.

Not having a salary cap means nothing just ask the Mets, Cubs, and Dodgers. They also have bloated payrolls but you still have to have team chemistry....

Just because Florida doesn't have a salary cap for its players, does not mean it does not work in the NFL. If there were no salary cap in the NFL the cowboys would win every season, and who wants that?
It's comforting to know that you can buy the World Series.
Says the Phillies fan, #3 in payroll in the NL.

Because they won 3 titles in the 90s, 2 after the cap was in place?
