Default MORE Breaking News! Braves acquire McLouth from Pirates!
Big day for the Braves.

In a deal that sends Gorkys Hernandez, Jeff Locke and Charlie Morton to Pittsburgh, the Braves acquire 26 yr. old Center fielder Nate McLouth, who made the all star team last year, hitting .276 with 26 home runs and 94 RBIs last year. Thus far in 2009 McLouth is batting .256 with 9 homers and 34 RBIs.

We just became a playoff team. McLouth is a BALLER, and will finally give us the offensive production we need in the outfield.

That's actually a shockingly good trade. Sorry I still don't see the Braves making the playoffs, but this will be an excellent move for future seasons.

Really helps to shore up the outfield. Great move. Shows we're serious.

I don't see how you can't at least consider them serious division contenders now. Their pitching is far better than anyone else in the division, and even more so now that Hanson has been called up. That one piece that was really missing was a good bat in the outfield, and McLouth fits like a glove.

F'n Pirates. I mean, WTF! They don't deserve a franchise I swear to God. There has to be some kind of rule to not allow a team to self-terminate the way they do by grooming good young talent only to trade it away just before it hits its prime.

Look around the majors, there are former ex-Pirates littered all over the place who are damn fine baseball players. I'm seriously this close to denouncing my fanhood....I can take a lot but damn, it's like they're trying to suck and aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

Just wait until Freddie Sanchez and Zack Duke bolt. Coming soon. Maybe even before the season is out. They are constantly rebuilding.

Didn't realize we had any Bucs fans on board.

If it makes you feel any better, Gorkys Hernandez is called by some scouts "the best outfielder" they've seen "in awhile." Jeff Locke has huge potential, and Charlie Morton should be a great complement to the starters you've already got.

But I certainly would understand the frustration if I was a fan of the Pirates.

Yeah, I wasn't happy with the timing of it. I think its the right move, but I don't like that they did Tommy. If they knew they were going to go with Hanson (and I think they did some matter of weeks ago) they should have let Glavine know, rather then have him do all this rehab, make these rehab starts in A-ball and then cut him loose after he's proved he's ready to come back up. So I'm disappointed with how it went down... but I think this needed to happen, one way or another.

You don't get an all-star center fielder that is only 26 years old for chump change. But we can afford to give up Gorkys because we have a lot of depth of talent at OF. Jason Heyward and Jordan Schafer are the guys of the future.
