Mullen said last week that he has made great strides. Just want to get a feel on when you guys think he will play.

Also do you think we should RS him or let him play this year?
"It just felt like the right place for me. Coach Mullen is bringing an exciting offense to Mississippi State and I want to be part of that. With our class coming in and with the guys already there, it is going to be ridiculous." - Montrell Conner

Just put this season out of your mind. See it as a growing stage for our whole team and coaching staff. Don't expect much.

I would love to do well, but at the same time I'd rather do little this season at the cost of RS'ing Russell and Connor. Next year we have a legitimate shot at going to a respectable bowl. Give it some time. We dropped a big game to Auburn, and by the looks of our defense (which I thought would be our saving grace this season) we need to do something drastic this week in practice.

I don't think we could start peyton manning and score enough points to feel safe with our defense. Redshirt him and lets move forward with Relf.

As long as we run something different on defense (i.e., not the 3-3-5 zone), I think we'll be fine. Torbush clearly didn't realize that he was facing a run-first team in Auburn.

I am not sure if we should bother with Tyler though. The offensive line has improved in pass blocking though. The problem: Relf still can't throw, and Tyson still gets happy feet in the pocket.

Is it really worth it to throw him out there this season just for experience's sake? I don't think that Russell will give us that much better of a chance than Relf. (Tyson should be an afterthought after watching him run for his life every time he got the ball at Auburn) So let's just takes our lumps, hopefully get 3 wins, and move into next year with a little more hope.

i think everybody wants to see him redshirted but the realist in me says he might play this year...i have never liked tyson lee running the offense...if he never played again, i would be fine...relf is still a work in progress but if he can be a little productive, he should be the man...if not we "might" see russell...

GO DAWGS!!!

i would love the convenience of a rs, but something that we also need to remember is nothing is guaranteed (i.e. a players health, playing status/leaving the team...things like that, just ask carroll). i think mullen might pull the trigger (35% CHANCE)...if he despises losing the way he says he does, then russell gives us the best chance to win. its not the worst thing in the world to play and start a true fresh, lets give him some time this yr to build game time experience with his recruiting class. at this point, mullen might be trying to build some depth at qb, but i want to win as soon as possible. we shouldnt be treating this kid like the golden chosen one....and our programs savior...cause he may not be. i also think mullen will be able to get another really good qb in the next 2-3 yrs outside of newton...thats the guy to rs imo.

I say we RS him. I like the idea of playing Relf and just running the option all year and keeping the defense guessing with screens to Bumphis, Havens, and Berry. Also throwing deep balls to McRae. But we did beat Vandy so we are headed the right way. I am sure Mullen knows what is best.

agreed....last game showed we can play sec ball as long as we dont leave the d in starkville. 0% chance of seeing russell this year. im ok with it as long as we are competitive but even if we got blown out for the rest of the year, he is still clipboard boy.

yeah the redshirt is pretty much a done deal at this point even though relf and lee still are just not very good...relf looks good running the ball but lost throwing it...for every average play lee makes, he makes on absolute terrible one...but thats what we have this year...

While on the topic of Tyson, was I the only one who had no idea he had the ball on the TD run? I could have sworn Dixon had it, and that is why I was mad during that play. When I realized Lee had scored, I was laughing too hard to cheer!
