New Adidas Mississippi State Football Uniforms Unveiled
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi State athletic department and adidas today unveiled the Bulldogs’ new home and away football uniforms at the Barnes and Noble Campus Bookstore. Available in retail outlets in mid-July, the maroon and white jerseys feature gray accents and incorporate the university’s new marks and logos.
The uniform will feature the new university athletic wordmark in the center of the chest, marking the first time in the modern era the full “Mississippi State” name has ever been displayed on the jersey. The Bulldogs will wear the uniforms for the 2009 season, the first season under new head coach Dan Mullen.
“With our new partnership with adidas, and working with Coach Mullen, we were able to not only update the look of our football team, but also proudly display the full name of our university and include our new logos and marks,” director of athletics Greg Byrne said.
The new uniforms are a change from head to toe for the Bulldogs, as it also includes a maroon helmet, a return to the headgear color the Bulldogs wore from 1963-65 and from 1974-2003. Mullen’s team will also wear black socks and black adidas shoes.
The new modernized fit jersey features ClimaCool, a unique system of fabric placed in high heat zones –such as the shoulders – that enhances ventilation allowing a continuous supply of fresh air to the body. Both the new-look jersey and pants also incorporate For-motion cuts, strategically placed seams that remove excess fabric to enhance the natural movements during a game while reducing obstruction and abrasion.
“This is a new and exciting uniform for our guys to wear,” Mullen said. “We wanted to create a look that was both visually appealing to our current and future players and included the colors and traditions of those Mississippi State teams that came before us.”
Mullen and his new-look Bulldogs – although they will not debut the new uniforms – take to Scott Field on Saturday for the Maroon-White Game. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. as the centerpiece of Super Bulldog Weekend presented by Regions Bank. A weekend full of activities on the Mississippi State campus and in Starkville is planned, and more information and a schedule of events are available at MStateAthletics.com.
I welcome the change! i would like to have the old ones back but no way to get them back. And anything is better than what we put on the feild in the Crxxm Era.
"It just felt like the right place for me. Coach Mullen is bringing an exciting offense to Mississippi State and I want to be part of that. With our class coming in and with the guys already there, it is going to be ridiculous." - Montrell Conner
What do you Bulldog fans think? Are most of you more traditional or do you welcome the change?
It's a new era of Mississippi State athletics. I see it as a sign of "doing away with the old" and "in with the new".
Or something like that...
Nah but seriously.. I think they look pretty decent. These pictures don't do them justice, though. I really like the new Mississippi State banner wordmark on the front.
It reminds me of the Texas A&M unis..... They put that logo on the front of the pants as well. Also, the color could be doing that to me. I've never liked the small text on the front like some sun belt teams do.

The way I see it is Mississippi State has no winning tradition. The only glory years we've ever had were in our Nike unis and due to a legally retarded athletic director we'll never see the "Miss State" unis again.
So in with the new. It's like starting over again. But if you want to get technical, I wouldn't call them nontraditional. They look like Arkansas's or Georgia's... just different colors and a different variation of logos.
I'm just glad we went with the maroon helmet. Mississippi State should never leave the maroon helmet ever again.
they arent what i hoped, but a whole lot better than what we had!
i give em a B.
if we can win in those uni's, i'll move it to an A!
Welcome to the site.
And I agree. They're solid uniforms and I honestly don't care what they look like if we win. Atleast we're not walking into a new coaching era wearing the old unis.
yeah i agree with ima about the silver lining...already mentioned it on a different thread (great minds think alike)...
yeah pudding, i think thats everybody's favorite combo...i like tradition but ours left when our old piece of crap AD didnt trademark our logo with nike...and croom wanted to be bama so bad, he tried to make us look like them (god i hate him more and more)....
benny, i love the byrne portrait....but glad you made it over here ima....cowbellasaweapon, welcome and post often!!!
