Default Scott out for the season
LSU running back Charles Scott broke his collarbone against Alabama on Saturday and is lost for the remainder of the regular season, the school announced on Sunday night.

Scott, a senior, might be able to return for a bowl game.

He rushed for 83 yards on 13 carries, but the Tigers (No. 8 BCS, No. 9 AP) lost to the Crimson Tide (No. 2 BCS, No. 3 AP).

The hard-hitting affair left the Tigers (7-2, 4-2) without Scott and injured quarterback Jordan Jefferson for most of the second half.

On Jefferson, LSU coach Miles said on Saturday that the quarterback was "trying to get back in the game. We felt like it would be best that he sit."

Wide receiver Terrance Toliver said Saturday: "Losing those two guys was a big blow to our offense."

Scott ran for 542 yards this season and had 1,174 as a junior.
Show class, have pride and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

I hope Scott heals completely and returns to football at the appropriate time.

We will be okay at running back. Ridley is a more-than-adequate replacement for Scott (big, strong, run-over-you type), and Keiland Williams is fast and capable. We should also see a lot more of Russell Shepard in innovative ways and more use of Trindon Holliday on the edges. Although Ridley hasn't had many game-touches yet, I really believe he may be better than Scott. He was gangbusters in the Spring Game, gangbusters against Tulane in the 4th quarter, and gangbusters on the TD run against Bama. Ridley is as big and powerful as Scott, but has better lateral movement and a better eye for the hole. He can bounce outside and away from a congested hole quicker than Scott can. I like Ridley as our future running game.

What about Jefferson? I honestly don't understand LSU's thought process keeping him out against Bama. He obviously wanted back in. He felt like he could go. Why not put him in and give your team a chance?

I really hate to hear that, he's a good RB. I wish I knew what play it was, there was so many guys down I couldn't tell which time it happened in the stands.

Because he's been good at practice, the coaches still have some idea that Lee can do the job. Wrong.

I hope they use Russell Shepard at QB against LaTech. Let's see what he does under center, in the wildcat, and passing the ball. He's dangerous on the option because his running is good or better than the option running back. If he can pass, and I hear that he can, I'd start developing him right now.

I agree. He's already been playing a lot. They plan to use him as a QB in the future right? Go ahead and get him the game experience behind center. If Lee starts any games for LSU it could be disaster down there. He was totally lost when he saw the Bama defense.

I hope Scott is feeling better soon. From what I understand, broken collarbones are the worst.

But if Jefferson can't go, I think its time to get some serious work in for Shepard.. Lee has his chance last year.

He'd probably forget to line up behind the center and they'd snap it out the back of the endzone.

It was a bruising game for sure. Hope LSU's players make a speedy, complete recovery. I was especially impressed withy coach Miles' "no excuses" attitude after the game. Man, he has more class in his pinkey than about half the other SEC coaches combined. I know it sucks to lose such a hard fought battle, but accepting it with such grace and class is rare in the SEC these days.

GREAT GAME LSU FANS!!! Good luck on the rest of the season!
THE NEXT BAMA DYNASTY IS OFFICIALLY UNDER WAY!
