Given High Fives: 1,091 Rep Power: 2496 | Les Miles Press Briefing After Thursday's Practice Les Miles talked to the media after his team’s Thursday practice. “I like how our guys approached today. Practiced hard. We’re bruised after a tough scrimmage.” Miles added, “ We closed the gap on the team that we can be.” Here are some topics that Miles talked about.
-Trindon Holliday will be the guy on returns.
-Les Miles enjoyed joking about hitting Glenn Guilbeau. It certainly lightened the mood.
-Miles seems to think that the linebackers who are “nicked” will be ready come game time. He feels that the injuries have made the depth at the position “thicker”.
-The move of Harry Coleman has been tremendous.
-He expects that at this point in time Chris Davenport and Josh Downs have established themselves as being “close enough to play on Saturdays.”
-Miles said, “Jarrett Lee has gotten so much better. His teammates respect the way he is curving and guiding his skill. Currently 9 is the starter, and we like 9, but 12 is really improving. When you are baptized in boiling water, you understand what the heat is. I think he has grown as a person as well as a quarterback.“
-T-Bob and PJ both improved, stll competing. “I don’t know if one has the overriding edge. I like both of them.”
-Chris Mitchell and RJ Jackson are having great camps and are “guys we will look to” when the games come around.
-On the running backs, “I think there are guys who deserve carries. We’re not going to limit ourselves in the games by who we name as the starter.”
-About Dominique Allen, “I like young Allen, he's coming of age.”
-Miles went out of his way to point out that DeAngelo Peterson is getting better.
-Trindon Holliday “knows who to block, and I think in the games their might be a different path taken by him.”
-About the pace of camp, “We’re going one time a day, and giving them a lot of time off of the field. Giving them time to get their legs back under them.”
-Asked about Trindon Holliday as a returned Miles said, “Trindon’s strength is going up the field, fast.”
-Miles said that Josh Dworaczyk is, “Bright, mobile. Getting better. Chance to be very special.”
-Asked about the style of offensive linemen he recruits Miles said he likes, “Mobile, tall, long arms. Rather have an athletic man with strength, than a cumbersome big man.”
I lost a bet so here's my new sig for awhile. |
