Default The Secondary Situation at LSU
No where will Tiger opponents be more surprised with the changes that John Chavis has made on defense than in the secondary. Chavis, happy as a clam with the talent he's inherited, has made some position changes that click like a well-oiled revolver. And in putting Chad Jones at free safety, Chavis has found the key to putting the talent where it belongs because Jones is a potential All-American at this spot.

It will be interesting to see if Georgia's Green or Alabama's Jones can get open on this bunch.

Chavis will get a lot of credit for the D as a whole, which Im sure will be a great product...but dont forget what Cooper will bring to the table. Its easy as a SC fan to just think about the terms on which he left, but I cant overlook the great secondary's he's helped form at SC. He will play a huge part in coaching up the great talent at LSU. Him and Chavis were easily two of the biggest pickups for LSU in the offseason...no matter who yall signed.

I hope you are correct. Heard Cooper is a heck of a coach!

He's definitely a hell of a coach. Just look at SC's success with DB's during his tenure at the school. I cant look at that and write it off as coincidence. I dont see any reason to believe that he wont do the same types of things at LSU.

You are absolutely right. Ron Cooper along with Brick Haley give Chavis an oustanding defensive staff. Opponents are going to be shocked at the difficulty of moving the ball on these guys.

We ought to see a massive improvement on the defensive side of the ball next year. Talent is there, I'm just hoping these coaches are as advertised. Definitely looks encouraging!

No doubt crawdad! I think alot of people will be surprised at how good LSU as a whole will be. Defensive coaching last year was horrid, and it got dealt with. Even with all the pick 6's our QB threw we still put up a schitt load of points in most games.
