Default The Quarterback Situation at LSU
The 6'5" 220 lb. Jordan Jefferson will be the starter. With Jefferson at the helm, the Tiger offense will likely change from the traditional drop-back QB to something more akin to the spread-option run by Florida with Tebow. Both Jefferson and Russell Shepard thrive when they can move around in the backfield and give the defense a running threat as well. Jarret Lee, who had a great spring, will also have a role; primarily as a "relief pitcher" in the form of a drop-back passer. Shepard, as a situational player, adds explosiveness to the QB position which wasn't there last year. Opponents can look to see Jefferson and Shepard in a Tiger offense that is replete with perhaps the best FLEET of running backs in the league (Scott, Williams, Murphy, & Holliday) and some outstanding TEs and WRs. A well-balanced attack, for sure.

G*ddam, just stick all of these in one thread. Not too many people care about it.

And to say the Tigers will have a "well balanced attack" is probably an understatement! It's going to be exciting see Jefferson and company ripping defenses with both its air and ground attacks. I wouldn't want any other present SEC QB behind center at LSU, other than "maybe" Tebow. Going to be a fun season at LSU!

only the actual depth chart i think lee needs to be ahead of shepard. Although i do think he will get more playing time (unless jefferson gets hurt) when he goes in for things like the wildcat. JJ and RS in the backfield is going to be amazing

You might be right TG, but I honestly doubt we'll see Lee in the LSU backfield during an SEC game ever again. Maybe cleanup against Washingston, ULL or Tulane type games, but not SEC. Just my opionion.

Now shk999, this thread is not about Bama's QBs; but I'll be glad to start that one later for you though.

I think they'll call less running plays for JJ this year, at least I hope so. He looked pretty good going through his progressions in the pocket, especially for a true freshman. The only time I want to see him running is when everything breaks down.

I think we might see him rolling out of the pocket some, sucking the linebackers up to stop the run and then firing it to a TE like Dickson. JJ can throw pretty well on the run, and so can RS.

Jefferson has ONE good game and the Tigers are claiming that he is the second coming of Tebow. If we based JPW's entire career on the 2007 Tennessee game, he would be the next Peyton Manning. One game does not mean anything. When he performs at a high level consistently over a whole season, I will be impressed.

QB situation will be much improved over last years debacle, but that ain't saying much.
