Default Open Week Practice: Vols On Horizon
LSU concluded the on-field portion of its open week workouts on Thursday as the Tigers held a two-hour practice indoors at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility. Thursday’s practice, which was forced indoors due to rain in the area, was the third during this open date week for the 13thranked Tigers as LSU also practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Tigers will lift weights and condition on Friday before taking Saturday and most of Sunday off. The team will return to practice on Monday as they continue to prepare for eighth-ranked Tennessee.

“We had a good practice today,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “This has been a good week for us. Going in we wanted to get some players some rest as well as giving those with bumps and bruises a chance to get well. I think we have accomplished both of those.”

Miles said the Tigers used Thursday’s workout, which was held in full pads, as a game-type format with the offenses and defenses running onto the field from the sidelines. LSU also scripted the practice with game-like situations, included redzone opportunities as well as the two-minute drill.

“I think we have improved in all three phases of the game this week,” Miles said. “We used today’s practice to have some game like situations and we also practiced against some looks that we expect to see against Tennessee. I think we have had a productive week.”

The Tigers return to action on Nov. 4 when they travel to face No. 8 Tennessee in Knoxville to start a November run that includes games at home against Alabama and Ole Miss as well as another road contest against Arkansas.

I lost a bet so here's my new sig for awhile.
