Russell completed 21-of-32 passes for a career-best 285 yards and two touchdowns in LSU's 34-6 win at Vanderbilt.
Russell's 21 completions also tied a career-best, which was set a week ago against Mississippi State.
The LSU offense totaled 479 yards, including 194 on the ground and 285 through the air against the Commodores.
Russell connected on a 30-yard TD pass to Dwayne Bowe on the Tigers' first possession and then hit Early Doucet on an 8-yard TD strike in the fourth quarter.

This guy is looking better every week. He'll fire some cannon shots against Florida's man defense, and, hopefully, his counterpart, Chris Leak, will be eating lots of dirt sandwiches.

the only problem is his cannon shots are damn near shot outta a cannon... i was really pissed at the dropped balls and missed passes untill i really started paying attention to how hard he is throwing the ball. he looks like an NFL passer.

There was an article in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate this morning addressing that exact issue. Skyler Green said that on fairly short throws, you can actually hear the ball sizzling through the air when it is about five feet away. Also, he said the ball arrives much quicker than you anticipate as a receiver and that takes some getting used to. On the good news side, Green (who's catching record from JaMarcus is very good) said that the WRs and TEs and backs have paid a lot of attention this week to catching the ball, even if you have to fall to the ground and not run.
