Here's the way it looks presently, with Jarret Lee having by far the best credentials out of high school. Hatch, however, has some talent as evidenced by the spring game. Scioneaux & McCartney are mysteries. Down the line, some big time talent coming in at QB: Russell Shepard, Chris Garrett, & Jordan Jefferson.

IMO the job of the QB at LSU next year is simple....you don't have to win the game yourself, just play within the system and DON'T FUMBLE OR GIVE'M INTs. Be smart and win the turnover battle every game. Lee and Hatch are smart guys, they'll do just fine if they'll follow the above instructions and not force big plays. I would suggest they read Flynn and Maulk's playbook. Forunately right now, there are a lot of " ify" QBs in the SEC next year; even some who have been QB for a while...cough cough!
I am really interested to see who gets the start. Lee has the potential and is young, but Hatch played so well in the spring game, I didn't know that he was that mobile. Shepard looks like he may be a great talent as well. I'm not that worried about QB, I don't think Flynn was a great QB but he got the job done and that is all the next guy needs to do.

My guess is that Lee starts this year with Hatch getting some PT. I think Russell Shepard comes in and has a great spring and fall and starts as a true freshman in 2009.

I believe Crowton will design a devastating running game with the speed and power in the backfield, augmented by short shovel passes, short roll outs to the backs, and quick behind the linebacker passes to the TEs and WRs. There is no doubt that Crowton will use the talent available in the best possible ways, and he will develop Lee slowly and deliberately to reach his pretty awesome potential.
People who think LSU doesn't have a strong defense will be shocked.
People who believe LSU will be offensively impotent without a star QB will be shocked.
The first shock will come in the manner that LSU beats The Barn in J-H.
The next two shocks will be the dismantling of the UGA and Florida seasons.
The last will not be a shock except to the hapless Bammers who are destined to get the living hell beat out of them on Nick's first trip back to the Bayou.
Of the tough SEC games that LSU will play, it will surprisingly be South Carolina, Miss State, and Ole Miss who will give the Tigers the most hell and perhaps some defeats.

Pleeeeeze, Breaux! He is a dullard of the most Bamanatious kind! I, on the other hand, am resplendent in my Bayou trappings; corn dogs on the grill, possum fritters on the side, and muscadine wine in the fridge!
