I don't understand how you can talk about a quarterback who led your team to a National Title like this. Are you just refering to his injuries?? Even if you are, There are other posts on this thread that make him out to be an "average" QB that will be easy to replace. IMO, that is a ridiculous notion.
Many times, the greatest teams are led by guys with average physical skills and extraordinary mental fortitude(Jay Barker anyone?). Although, IMO Matt Flynn was well above average in the physical skills department.
Matt Flynn is a great quarterback and he did some great things for the LSU program. Destroying Miami, providing a great backup for Jamarcus Russell and showing great patience. THEN, when he got his opportunity, he led the team to a National Title.
You guys are completely underestimating him as a player. If you think it will be so easy to replace Matt Flynn, you are in for a rude awakening. You guys have been spoiled with great QB play for so long that you don't understand how important the position can be.
I understand the need for optimism, but I have seen zero realism from any LSU posters on this subject.
Dude Matt Flynn wasn't that great of a QB. It was either he was on fire or he was throwing to many INT's. The guy will barely make the practice squad for Green Bay. Around the end of the season if finally learned how to manage a game and not do to much. Thats what I'm hoping Lee or Hatcher will be like. Just manage the game and don't force things.

There are plenty of outstanding college quarterbacks who can't make it in the NFL. Chris Leak, Jay Barker, Danny Wuerffel, David Green etc...
It think it is ridiculous the way you guys take him for granted. He should be immortalized in the history and tradition of LSU football. You will understand my point after the rookie quarterback that takes his place singlehandedly loses about 3 games for you this year.

He wasnt a great QB. Inconsistent at times.
Every year people say we wont be able to replace the players we lost. It happened when we lost Clayton, Spears, Webester, Addai, Landry, Bowe, Russell, etc. Now people are saying we wont be able to replace Hester, Flynn, Highsmith, DOrsey, Steltz, etc Hell, in 2005 we replaced half our defense and then again in 2006. It worked out fine. It will this year. They were great players of course, but we are one of the deepest teams in the country and just reload.

You guys just keep burying your collective heads in the sand......
You guys just keep burying your collective heads in the sand......
That's us! Bama Bama Bama....when will you guys ever learn you're not the only kid on the block anymore. Auburn and LSU aren't going anywhere just because you've got a great coach and one good recruiting class. Those are great steps in getting your program up to par in the West, but we're all here to stay. Just as you're gaining talent, LSU and Auburn also have been reloading great talent. Our QB's are here with incredible resume's, abilities and talents. Can that transform into "W" on the field? Looking at all the QB around the league, other than Tebow at Florida, I think we have just as much a chance of success at the QB position as any of the others. We're not denying you guys are going to be good again eventually, but you've "got to get your collective heads out of the sand" when it comes to the fact that Bama is only going to be just another good team in the SEC West from now on....Not THE team in the West or SEC. One thing that is hilarious about this time of the year is fact that every fan probably has their head in the sand a little bit when it comes to bold predictions about their teams future. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

We are talking about LSU's QB situation, not Bama's future in the SEC. Although I understand that you would like to change the subject because you can't backup your position with any facts.

Lighten up! This site is just for fun, but I do think I covered it pretty good in the Reader's Digest version. Yeah, I took a little detour, but that's half the fun of posting! Kickoff is four months away dude, there are no facts other than nobody knows what is really going to happen with any of their talent. Heck, we're all just hoping our great talent doesn't blow a knee or mess up their sholdiers and are able to even get on the field for opening kickout! Again, check bold print. I'm just ribbing you in fun cause your Bama, it's not personal. If I offended you, sorry! Just bypass my post next time...not a problem.

You did not offend me, so no need to apologize.
The fun for me is discussing college football.
I just don't understand the unbridled optimism that every LSU fan on this site is displaying. You have possibly the worst QB situation of any school in the SEC. You lost a ton of amazing players from your defense, your starting tailback and your best WR. Yet you are still going to dominate Bama, contend with Auburn for the West and possibly win the SEC. I just don't see it.
Now if you really want to talk about Bama, we have our own problems - Poor QB play, Thin LB corps, talented OL that doesn't produce, no go-to Running-Back, untested DL etc.. But most of the Bama fans on this site(except BP) are willing to concede that we will have a very tough time winning the west and beating Auburn or LSU. Most Bama fans are predicting 7-5 or 8-4 season next year. Where are the realists from LSU??

With the performances I've seen from JPW, I'll take my chances with our new RSF. Only Stafford and Tebow are proven. And Jacob Hester was our starting tailback because of his seniority and his dependability. Murphy, Scott, and Williams are faster and bigger, and throw the speed of Trindon Holliday into the mix and you'll be saying "Jacob who." And WRs? We've got the four best in the SEC and maybe the country in Byrd, Tolliver, Dixon, and Mitchell. Depend on it... LSU is not "down;" we've simply reloaded and we are ready to continue as one of the SEC's strongest and best football teams (which is a far piece from where Bama is).
