Kentucky Stacey Poole Announcement
15 min away. The 27th ranked player in Rivals 2010 recruiting class is making his announcement for either Kentucky, South Carolina or Clemson on ESPNU at 5:30pm EST. I really don't know how the latter two schools got in on this guy...no offense Gamecocks. He's from Jacksonville, FL and his pops played at UF. 4th leading scorer all-time there as I recall. How the Gators aren't in on him but Carolina is says something. Not sure what, but something. Turmoil continues in Gainesville.

Anyway, everyone and their brother expects him to announce his intent to play at Kentucky. I'm hearing solid defender, excellent dunker, great inside game, needs to work on his jumper a bit. He's expected to be here for a while, not a one and done. Drawing comparisons to Kelenna Azuibuke and Antwain Barbour....I can dig that fo' sho'.

When someone this good is expected to be our lowest ranked/least hyped commit for next season and he gets to announce on national TV, yeah....we're gonna have the best damn recruiting class again next year.

From everything I read it sounded like his mom fell in love with Carolina and Coach Horn so that was certainly a helpful influence for us. That combined w/ our style of play and the fact he likes the idea of being a pretty easy drive from home are probably the main reasons we were a serious threat to UK on this kid. Like you, I expect him to announce for UK though.

There's still a chance...all the pundits have definitely said "so and so is expected to go here" and then something else happens. We'll know in a few minutes. It's ain't over til it's over.

Well the local news here in Lexington reports Poole to Kentucky. However he still hasn't even made his announcement yet on ESPNU. I'm already late for work...I can't wait around all day.

I say "Welcome to Big Blue Nation" Stacey.

You know we're back on top when a guy like this is s'posed to be a bench player 3-4 year guy. No offense Gamecocks, but he's a program changer in Columbia. Here, he's a backup.

The Big Blue Machine keeps rollin.
