The Ramp

I hope to get a hotel downtown and walk around. I plan on hitting the golf course and horse races. You wildcat fans got any advice or suggestions, i'd appreciate it. how far is the stadium from downtown? are there lots of restaurant/bars downtown too?

There are plenty of restaurants/ bars downtown, the stadium is 10 minutes from downtown. You need to check Keenelands website for their fall racing schedule.....hopefully they will be racing the weekend of the game, Keeneland is a must-do while your in town. I don't live in Lexington but I believe Puddintime does so he can give you all the bar names. I would get a room at the Hyatt downtown as it is connected to Rupp Arena. Don't forget to drive around the and check all the horse farms.....it is beautiful countryside.......lots of rolling hills and white fence.

I just checked and they are racing at Keeneland on Oct. 20th, which is gameday. I hope to be at the game myself.

UKat did quite the research. Yeah Ramp, I'm here in Lexington. Campus as well as Commonwealth Stadium aren't far at all from downtown. Rupp Arena is downtown, and staying at the Hyatt or the Radisson would be my advice. Quality hotels in prime location. Plus there aren't really any hotels close to the Stadium unless you wanna go to the north side of the city....which you don't lol.

As far as Keeneland....absolutely a must. Bring some $...beers are like $4....so get 2 when you hit the line. But the ladies are outstanding....don't think you'll see one "dog" out there, those who know can back me up. Keeneland runs Wed-Sun during the Spring and Fall meets. Usually first post is at 1...last one is at 5.

Depending how old you are and what kind of bars you like there are quite a few around the city I can recommend. My personal favorite is Marikka's on Southland Drive. It's a German style bar w/volleyball courts and a sweet patio...but the best part is other than not usually having to wait on a pool or foosball table is the 400+ types of beer they have from around the world. Name a country and they have at least one beer from there. Freakin awesome.

As for the golfing...I didn't see one missed on that list. I've only been to Meadowbrook, Plantation Links, and Tates Creek. Basically I suck and gave up on golf. Usually I'm at the blue courts hoopin it up.

Anyway, holla at me, I can hook you up w/whatever you need to know.

ohh....forgot...the University Inn is directly at the corner of Cooper and Limestone....which is where Commonwealth is. Never been inside it, never stayed there, know nothing about it. I just know that it is impossible to get anywhere around the campus area on gamedays....and you'll probably wanna be staying somewhere close enough that you can walk to the game. Just don't wear a purple and yellow cow suit like that jackass did in '02. He got speared by a grizzled UK fan who wasn't too happy w/his celebration dance (lol no joke....I'll see if I can find the pic.)
