Default QB
With Cox stated as being the starter for the rest of the year, this has me a little worried now that I think about it more. I would just pass it off as Richt not wanting to lose a year of playing for Murray, but he stated in an interview that he would play the QB that gives us the best chance to WIN NOW.

With that being said, I can only conclude that Richt thinks Cox is the best we have at QB right now...... which is EXTREMELY scary.

I am hoping that this is not the case, and that Richt just does not want to lose a year of playing time, as stated earlier.

What do you guys think?
Is Cox starting because he is the best we have right now?

Logan Gray has more upside, IMO, but Cox is battle-tested (he's lost some of those battles, but still it counts for something.)

Gray>Cox, but not yet. JMO. The psyche of a QB is so critical. Eventually you just have to throw the ball to #8 every play though.

I thought about Gray, but I would rather have Murray play, I think he is better than Gray as well

We have the same thing over at the 'Barn... Just from youtube videos I've basically figured out that Tyrik Rollison is better than Chris Todd, but Rollison just is not ready for SEC football yet. Granted, I don't think Chris Todd is ready for much more than Big South football, but take what you can get.

Maybe it's because the kids just aren't ready for the SEC? No need to throw them to the wolves if they're not ready yet.

If it was this year and another QB besides Cox, it would be Gray without question. Murray needs to add weight and spend more time in the offense IMO. He's not blessed with the physical gifts of Stafford where he can make up for poor play. Starting him before he's ready could kill his confidence long-term.

What wolves? We don't play a really strong defense the rest of the year, if anything, this is the opportune time

It would be foolish to burn a freshman's redshirt 9 games into the season. Cox gives you the best chance to win. The QB isn't your problem anyway it's the defense.

Uh, Really? No offense but while our defense is a big problem, its not that only one for sure. 3 interceptions against UF alone, without them we would have at least played a close game

The guy has thrown like 12 interceptions in 8 games, I find it very hard to believe he gives us the best chance to win

UGA's main two problmes: QB play and Defense, but there IS also the lack of the running game, which has at least gotten better

This year is a bust, PERIOD. There is no need to pull the red shirt from Aaron or Zach. As a matter of fact Aaron just got over an injury and Zach is a gunslinger with good size but no real concept of how to run the offense yet. If we could combine the two we would have the perfect QB to lead us. But neither will benefit from hitting the field this year.

Cox will get us through the rest of the year, hes earned it. I don't want them thinking Grey can lead us next year anyways.

This is true, but not what I am really worried about. Aaron is 100% now, so that is not the issue. My worry is that Cox is the best we have right now, that is scary and that is what Richt said

The best we have out of the TWO he is willing to play. Don't get all crazy on me now. I just don't think Richt is ready to pull the new guys redshirts.

But he mentioned playing Murray, he SAYS (not sure if it is true) that the red shirt had no effect on his decision, just who would give us the best chance to win

I think this season is a wash and he knows that. But in all fairness Murray might have the ability but Cox has been around for awhile and knows the offense inside and out.

I do not think Gray is that good, so yeah Cox probly does give us the best chance to win right now. Murray is not ready, he has been hurt and he does not know the plays.
