Default Breakout Player 2009
I would have put this in a poll, but there are just too many possibilities. So who do you guys think will be the breakout player this year? You can't say AJ cause we all know what he is capable of. My vote would probably go to one of our running backs given the strength of our O-line. That being said, I'm gonna go with Richard Samuels

Carlton Thomas. He definitely could have a breakout year, but it's hard to predict how it's going to go with the RB's. Aside from the past 2 years, we've traditionally been a team that runs 3 backs pretty much the whole game. We'll see if we return to that or if one guy takes the lead.

Washaun Ealey is another RB that might turn some heads as well.

I would have said Bruce Figgins until he got suspended. He may still have an incredible 2nd half...that's assuming that Orson Charles and/or Arthur Lynch don't beat him out for the starting spot. I'm excited about our prospects at TE.

On defense, I'll take a gamble and say Branden Smith. I have a hunch that he might be the first freshman shutdown corner we've had in a while.

Branden Smith and for the love of God I hope one of our DE's have a breakout season.

I'm keeping my eye on Rantavious Wooten. He won't get as much hype as some of the other freshman, but the dude is a flat out baller and a big-time playmaker.

My pick is going to be Reshad Jones. I think he will have a huge year because if he does hes going high in the draft. He has all the tools and this is the year it comes together.

On offense, its going to be Aaron White.

I would love to see this happen, he was one of my disappointments as a freshmen becuase hes just so small. Prove me wrong, WOOOOOOOOTEN.

Thats what I have been questioning. ALL the hype has been on Marlon Brown, which is well deserved. But at the same time, Ealey's stats are just insane. It would seem as though if one of our other RBs don't step up big time then he could easily take their spot.

And I would have said Carlton Thomas, but I think he lacks the size to REALLY make a big impact

Orson Charles, we won't have to use TEs for pass protection as much this year and we will have AJ stretching the field. I agree with the Figgins would have been it... but yeah.

Brandon Smith is a good call, but I have a good feeling about Marcus Washington. I think he will a pass rush OLB/ DE.
