Seriously? All 4 of those players (Ealey, Chapas, Spikes, and #5) were shoving each other. Besides, you can't compare that to eye gouging... this is getting flat out pathetic.
I just posted the pic and didn't say anything about it. Get over yourself, seriously.
I think it was Travian Robertson that had an eye injury against Tennessee? Was he gouged? Was it intentional? Who knows? That tape hasn't surfaced, but I know he came out and had is eye washed out on the sideline. It happens in every game. That doesn't make it right, but everyone needs to comply with a universal plan if we want it stopped. Self-policing isn't ever going to work.
If we're going to stop it, then let's stop everyone from getting away with it. The fact that this one was caught on tape makes it more disturbing, because you get to watch it over and over up close and personal.
There needs to be a PF flag anytime another player is caught with his fingers inside a helmet. A player that gets caught gouging an eye needs to be immediately ejected from the game. That would stop it. But if they aren't serious about it, then why should one team be the scapegoat while their competitors keep doing it?
The problem with gouging eyes is that sometimes your finger misses the eye and finds a row of teeth. Players have lost fingers in the past for attempting such crap. The helmet shield was invented for this very purpose.
Anyhow...I can truly understand the non-UGA fans perceptions of Spikes...and maybe even of Urban's punishment...or lack thereof. It's embarrassing for the conference...it embarrassed me as a Gator. But any Gator will tell you...in spite of how Brandon "looks"...or what his brother has done, he is a good guy. He does tons of community work in Gainesville and often accompanies Tebow on his weekly treks to Shand's Children's Hosptial. He's a decent guy...he just let his emotions get the best of him on one play. I don't think any Gators on this board agree with what he did...but considering how much shiat he'd taken up to that point, I'm just amazed an all-out brawl didn't occur first. Brandon had a target on his back from the opening KO. He got his eyes raked...and unlike Ealey...his eye was minimally damaged...he actually had to go to the sideline, Ealey kept going. Brandon took several late hits to the back by OL...had his helmet ripped off twice...heck, he even had his hair pulled. Nobody gives a rat's ass about all that, though...
What I find monumentally hilarious is the fact that poodle fans are creating the biggest ruckus...knowing their entire team played as dirty as any team not in garnet and gold that I've watched in many years.
Forget the fact that one of UGA's starters was arrested last week...and started the stinkin' game!!! They're pissed that Spikes isn't being punished more severely...GMAFB!
Honestly...the pups got taken to the woodshed in J-ville...again...and this is the only subject they can post on without holding their heads in shame. I'm not bunching all you UGA fans together...some of you are sensible...but to the few that embarrass your fan base, think about what your coach and team done this past Saturday before throwing stones our way.
GO GATORS!!!
1. Normal people think before they act, its called being sensible. Thats why we don't go poking people's eyes out when we get emotional. We usually think about the CONSEQUENCES, but in his case there are none
2. You already pretty much praised him for eye gouging "what a MLB should be" so don't talk about embarrassing your fan base
2. Of course it is Bulldog fans making the most of it BECAUSE IT WAS OUR PLAYER WHO ALMOST GOT BLINDED. Are you kidding me?
4. From what I remember, I didn't see any UGA fans defending Vance getting arrested.
5. UGA got their ass kicked, yes. We got outplayed big time. And congratulations for the win, but Spikes is still a POS (in my opinion)
Don't mean to post on the Gator boards, just wanted to clear up a few points

Have you ever played a "competitive" organized sport? Emotions run high and sometimes reasonable people do things they regret...I know I did. However, the hypocrisy comes into play when you don't subject your own players to the same criticism. Spikes had his eyes gouged...as did Tebow. Now, Tebow's was likely accidental, however, Brandon's was obviously not...it even drew a PF call. Again, I'm not taking up for Brandon...but the only reason his actions are such a big deal is because the UGA player that got him wasn't caught.

Again, it's your problem that you failed to see the sarcasm in that post.

Our player almost got blinded, Tebow was hit late, Brandon James nearly got his head yanked off...like I said, glass houses.

.
Nope...but you criticize our coach for not punishing Spikes more...when, it's your coach that didn't punish his player AT ALL....again, glass houses.

Spikes made a mistake...it was a terrible mistake, but no one was hurt. One mistake doesn't make a man a POS...especially if that mistake doesn't hurt anyone. And by your logic...Most of UGA's team consists of PsOS. The guy the hit Tebow late, the guy that tried to decapitate James, the guy that gouged Spikes eye...I guess they're all thugs and POS too.
