It took Herschel 3 years as a starter, 36 games, and over 1000 CARRIES to get the 54. It'll take Tebow 3 years as a starter, 1 as a backup, 50+ games, but only 2/3 as many carries to get there.

Nobody is trying to compare Walker and Tebow, as far as rushing ability... that's stupid, Walker was the SEC's premier RB. What is amazing, though, is a QB is likely about to take over the rushing TD mark, that was thought to be only breakable by another RB.

Of course most of Tebow's TD's came from within the 5-yard line... he's a QB. But your quote just shows, once again, the extent of your ignorance regarding any team other than UGA, or players that aren't Dawgs. You must not watch anybody else play ball.

In 2006, as a backup, Tebow had 5 TD's from inside the 5, and 3 from the 5 or outside it of 16, 12, and 20 yards.

In 2007, his first year as a starter, Tebow had 13 TD's from inside the 5, and 10 from the 5 or outside it of 16, 7, 5, 9, 6, 9, 5, 5, 23, and 5 yards.

In 2008, Tebow had 9 TD's from inside the 5, and 3 from the 5 or outside it of 8, 26, and 8 yards.

So far in 2009, Tebow has 5 TD's from inside the 5, and 1 from 26 yards out.

Totals: Inside the 5 - 32 From the 5 Out - 17

Percentage - 65% ... not even remotely close to 90%.


I don't have any idea how many of Walker's TD's were from inside the 5-yard line; but I've got to believe that virtually every time UGA was inside the 5 during his 3 years, they were giving him the rock. It doesn't diminish his accomplishments to take it in from inside the 5... he had plenty of long runs during his career. Just by virtue of his position and ability, he's going to have longer runs than Tebow... that's why comparing the 2 straight up is like comparing apples and oranges.
