That's a relief. I'm going to save my first offense for a bastard who really deserves it!

I think the point he was trying to make was that the charges would most definitely not be dropped if it were him, a non-Florida Gator football player. And let's be honest... if it were any other young black male who looks like Janoris does, they would probably have thrown the book at him.

I said nearly a year, which is what the article said he would spend if the charges weren't dropped. Charges wouldn't have been dropped if it weren't a football player imo, if it was an average joe like me or anyone else, we'd at least see some prison time for resisting arrest... you and I know it.

Never...in my life...have I heard of a person spending time in prison for "resisting arrest". It came down to what could be proven in a court of law. The witnesses in the case backed Jenkins' version of events. Case closed.

You're right, it was probably the cop that lied. I'm sure he also tazed Jenkins for kicks, am I right GH?

And actually, in most states he would go to jail for it if his attorney couldn't strike a deal with the attorney or have the State Attorney or DA personally drop the charges. That's without prior arrests, btw. The maximum sentence in the state of Florida for resisting an arrest without violence towards the Police officer has a maximum sentence of one year.

The cop's version of events actually coincides with Jenkins'. When he got to the scene...he saw Jenkins' being accosted. He told everyone to stop...Jenkins' didn't...he was tased...but, according to the arresting officer...calmed down and was very cooperative. Spin it anyway you like...he was acting like a typical 19 y/o kid...it's embarrassing no doubt, but doesn't warrant "prison time".

Are you really gonna open this can of worms again?

Like I said, I've never, ever, heard of a person getting the maximum sentence on a first offense...provided the offense didn't involve loss of life or property. Again...open a book and do a little research. At least he wasn't endangering the lives of innocent people on the highway by driving drunk...which has a much longer max sentence

I'm not saying what should or shouldn't have happened, but to be fair, name me one person who wouldn't "calm down and be very cooperative" after being tazered. He doesn't win any extra points for that. That's like Georgia's Jeremy Lomax turning in his gun the day after he was arrested for it. It's all after the fact.

im not going to get involved in this but that is not true at all, after jenkins was tazed he got up and ran from the cops. he did the exact opposite of becoming cooperative.

That is bullshit GH. What typical 19 year old kid gets tasered because he acts like a thug and will not obey the direct order of a police officer? Typical criminal maybe. As far as calming down and beeing cooperative.... you don't have much choice after 10,000 volts have been run through your body. The reason they use tasers is because they are uncooperative and quite the opposite of calm.

And your "re-telling" of the story is completely false. Jenkins was chasing somebody, not being accosted. My god, you guys have a way of remembering things ass-backwards. That post above is almost as bad as GU making excuses for Ronnie Brown punching a motorist in the face, saying the other motorist "scared him."

He was tryin' to be thuggish in front of a cop, and the cop kept it real. Moral of the story: Don't be a thug.

To be honest...I haven't even read "what happened"...I'm simply going by what a friend told me...I did read that the cop...at some point, said that Jenkins was cooperative. I also read that the cop's version of events coincides with Jenkins'. As far as the rest...and the "sequence" of events...I'm ignorant. I do know that Jenkins has never been in trouble...so, calling him a "criminal" is a stretch. Either way...it's over...he's gonna be charged with a lesser offense...and he'll be on the field when Kiffy comes to town.

It's pretty clear guys, Jenkins was tasered as a reward for being so cooperative!
