Default CJ Spiller to Florida?
I've been told that there is a chance CJ Spiller is leaving Clemson for Florida. Have any of you Florida guys heard this? GatorHunter, anything?

Bowden won't give him his release. He asked for it weeks ago according to what I've been told.

Wow, he must really hate it up there to think about this. I know he was a last minute surprise when he chose Clemson to begin with but he's gotta know James Davis only has a year left before he's certainly going pro so he'd have the #1 spot all to himself if he sticks it out. He'd sit out next year first of all, then compete for probably the same number of touches he got this past year with the likes of Chris Rainey, Enrique Davis and whoever else is already on UF's roster & that isn't exactly chopped liver.

Asst. coaches out looking for jobs, on-the-bubble early entrants at best declaring for draft, players talking to agents pre-Music City Bowl....the rats are sensing something's wrong with the boat in Clemson.

Bowden won't give him his release, but that doesn't mean he can't leave. He can still pay his way or sit out for two years instead of one.

Naw, not me! You must have the wrong guy. I wish Clemson all the best of every disappointment and shortcoming they bring upon themselves. The very, very best I say!

Spiller went public a couple of months ago saying he thought he would fit into UF's offense "better" than his current situation. Also said that the Clemson coaches weren't completely "truthful" in his recruitment. It was reported a couple of days ago that Spiller wanted to transfer to UF, but Bowden was unlikely to grant his transfer...from what I'm hearing, Bowden did deny it. Also heard that Spiller's mother was to have a meeting with Bowden last night or today one. Bowden's ship is sinking and he'll take everyone with him...he's that type...look at his brother...he was willing to let his legendary dad take all kinds of heat...anyway, Spiller made a mistake in his choice...and like several Gators anticipated...it's coming back to bite him in the arse. Hope he can somehow transfer to UF, though...imagine what '08 would look like....Tebow, Spiller, Harvin, Rainey, Fayson, Cooper, and Ingram...that just isn't fair!!!

he also has a kid in florida from what i understand. and didnt get many touches in the Bowl game. i think that it is messed up that Bowden wouldnt grant him his release. if i were a recruit and heard that i would never consider clemson.

I agree. Those darn Bowdens do a pretty good job of shooting themselves in the foot. I expect some defections or re-commits.

I am glad that they have turmoil, but truthfully I had rather him stay at Clemson than go to Florida. I think we can beat Clemson with him. With or without him Florida is a load. They don't need more weapons.

Exactly, this years team was the best team chumpson has seen in a LONG time, and Bowden still managed to squeeze a 1-4 into the record somewhere. Now that we have a coach who actually has a strong drive to win I think we'll win against chumpson the majority of the years Spurrier is here. UF on the other hand is heading in the right direction and I was already not looking forward to facing up against Tebow and Harvin in that option. Add Spiller to the mix its just gonna be sick. I hope for Spiller's sake that he can end up where its best for him, and I certainly enjoy watching him play. But lets just say it wont exactly hurt my feelings if he gets stuck at chumpson.

Plus this type of action by Tammy is exactly the kind of thing thats gonna negate some of that hard work hes done to develop recruiting pipelines in FL. Im pretty sure that Spillers high school coach will persuade a kid towards Neckbone Tech before he suggests any of his players attend chumpson.

Spiller is returning to Clemson for now, but this is by no means a dead story. He'll have to decide very soon, however.

I agree with the previous SC sentiment though.... seeing the pain on Clemson fans faces if he transferred would be priceless BUT they're still beatable with Spiller. UF with Spiller would just be scary.

Oh and congrats on the title Gator fans

yea, if davis gets injured again prior to the rivalry game and spiller gets injured midgame usc just might have a chance. unless they lose players to jail and such.

congrats to the SEC in football. excellent showing this year. in football.

Yeah, Im sure Davis' injury had everything to do with us putting up almost 500 yards of total offense.
