Listening to talk radio in Atlanta yesterday i heard former UGA coach Donnan say that Auburn would be worse next year than this. I for one think he is wrong. We will lose 4 starters on offense and 3 on defense. Only Tate on offense and Coleman on defense will be hard to replace. The defense was the worst at Auburn in my 50 plus years of watching and if we are worse next year Coach Donnan may be right. So far we have at least 11 commits on defense and hope to get a few more. Coach Roof did a good job at GT and will do the same at Auburn with better recruits and more depth. Auburn must do a better job recruiting on defense and Coach Roof will turn this around. We may have to sign some Juco players to improve our experience. Chizik and staff did better than expected this year with the limited talent and i think next year we should improve to 8-9 wins. What say you Auburn fans.

A different perspective on the Georgia Game

A few thoughts on the Georgia game. I think Georgia actually beat us at our own game. In the beginning we scored a quick touchdown which means the defence on the field. We scored again - once again the defence on the field. Then no touchdown but the defence on the field again very quickly.

I think Georgia actually kept their game plan and let our no depth defence get completely wore out then had their way with us. Our offence scored enough points to win a Auburn Georgia game but our defence is not the Auburn defences of the past.

One thing I did see Saturday night that I did not see last year was the Auburn Tigers did not give up, they played hard until the end. If you don't think the players care, I hope you saw Ben Tate after the game.

Anyway - on to the bammers - on to 2010

WDE!!!

He has thrown for 2,196 yards this season with a completion percentage of 59.9%. He has also thrown 19 TD's...

He has thrown for 2,196 yards this season with a completion percentage of 59.9%. He has also thrown 19 TD's and only 5 INT's. That is not a bad QB guys. He has the 22nd best passer rating in the nation right now at 147.12. Yes, he has thrown some interceptions but I can't think of one that 100% cost us the game. Last night our offense had a chance to come back on the field after UGA scored to tie it up. They just couldn't execute. It was not Todd's fault. No he may not be the perfect QB but he sure isn't a bad one.

Auburn's woes are due to depth and depth alone. Some may say execution. Well, execution is due to fatigue because you don't have anyone to help you out and let you take a breather. Some say plain and simple that our defense sucks. Well, that is because we have freshman and 1st year JUCO's starting on defense this year because of what? DEPTH.

Personally, I am more than happy about a 7-5 or a very unlikely 8-4 season. We were supposed to be .500 or below this season. Well, we proved everyone wrong. Even with the depth issues we have managed a 3-4 conference record and a 7-4 total record. All with freshman starters in a first year implemented offense. That, my friends, is something to be proud of. I guarantee you that every one of those guys have played 110% for 11, yes 11, straight games. So no, I am not disappointed about how this season has turned out. Sure I am always disappointed when my Tigers lose but thats the game of football. You win some you lose some. Get over it.

The future looks very, very bright at Auburn University. We have one of the best coaching staff's in the nation right now and they have done an AWESOME job bringing back the fire to this Auburn football team and the Auburn faithful. They have also recruited their butts off and now it looks as though we're gonna come away with a top 10 or top 5 recruiting class. That is astonishing to me. Once these coaches get their guys in this system (BOTH Malzahn AND Roof), then we are going to be absolutely loaded with talented depth; especially after all this experience that these freshman are getting.

So I don't know about you Auburn fans, but I think this is a time to be excited! Who knows, maybe we'll pull out a miracle upset in the Iron Bowl this year! We have gone against the predictions 5 weeks in a row, why not make it 6!

War Damn Eagle!

Why did we not run the ball with Ben Tate tonight, It seemed to me like we would run for 6 yards on 1st down and throw 2 incomplete passes and then punt. We came out hot and failed to have an answer with their adjustments. However, Demond Washington may be the answer to our return woes so big props to him. However we still made the most penalized team in the SEC look like properly coached when we choked on the final drive. Dont want our staff to reinvent the wheel just fix the problems we have had all year long. WDE im done whinning lets get the week off and play a good iron bowl

Specifically on the last drive. When our running game was extremely effective, and it's apparent that Todd is trash, why would be abandon the run? We would've at least had a 4th and 5 to deal with if we would've just pounded and juked our way around the D. Pathetic. I don't blame Todd for sucking ass. I blame Malzahn for not noticing that Todd sucks ass.

Atrocious performance by our D, again, but I'll get into that when I'm in a more suitable state of mind.

Chris Todd sucks my ass, and I cannot wait until he graduates.

Fact - Our season has suprised most after our new coach was announced

Fact - We have won 7 games or lost three SEC games with walk ons and back ups mixed in with our starters

Fact - Our coaches are working the a**'* off recruiting

Fact - This year is what it is - at least we are getting the extra game by going to a bowl game

Excited - I don't look for us to make a big run next year because it is still too soon and once again we will be playing one more year of catch up football getting holes filled in the defence and getting experience with our new offensive players but watch out for 2011. I think 2011 will be our year to really look forward to and we will make some noise

Rush Yds - 2300
Pass Yds per game - 232.2
Rush Yds per game - 230
and we're the #2 total offense in the nation well behind #1 Houston.
Pretty exciting to say the least to be an Auburn fan because once Malzahn gets his guys in, and once we get that depth fixed then we're going to be next to impossible to stop is what it looks like.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- It's often said relationships are the cornerstone of recruiting. There has never been a greater example of that than in the recruitment of the nation's top running back prospect, Michael Dyer (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Christian) to Auburn.

Dyer committed to the Tigers during a press conference at his school Friday morning honoring him and teammate Dakota Mosley for being named to the 2010 Under Armour All-American game. Dyer also considered Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, FSU and Ole Miss, among others.

AP Photo/Brian ChilsonMichael Dyer will not only bring a blend of speed and power to Auburn, but he's also trying to bring a few other top RBs with him.

The key to Dyer's commitment to Auburn was his relationship with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. That bond started during Dyer's sophomore year back when Malzahn was at Tulsa, but continued and strengthened after Malzahn joined Gene Chizik's first Tigers staff this past spring.

"I have gotten to know him and his offense and everything he had to offer is amazing," Dyer said. "Even when he was at Tulsa, I thought about Tulsa for the simple fact that playing for him would be great and I would have a great opportunity to do some work. You won't meet too many people like him during this whole football process."

Add in a game day atmosphere at Jordan-Hare Stadium that is one of the best not only in the Southeastern Conference, but in the country, and Dyer was hooked. From the fans to the scene to Spirit, the Auburn War Eagle, soaring around the stadium, Dyer knew it was something special.

"[Spirit] flies across and everybody is just so excited and happy," Dyer said. "When you are sitting there in the stands, everybody has a bond, not just the team, but the fans and everybody.

"When I went to the game [a 41-30 Tigers win over West Virginia on Sept. 19)] it was pouring down rain and the game was delayed 30 minutes, but the fans were still there cheering and wet. People had paint all over their bodies and signs that they held out and they sat there throughout the game. They didn't move. Those are true fans that I would like to play for and go out there and give 100 percent."

When you talk about Auburn running backs, names like Bo Jackson, Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown come up. It's quite a tradition and looking at the numbers of current Tigers back Ben Tate, who leads the SEC with 1,067 yards, it's not one that's slowing down any time soon. Dyer isn't making any guarantees about being the next great one on the Plains, though.
"I am going there and am going to put my effort into the team and do my part," Dyer said. "I am just going to try to do my part and let everything else take care of itself."

In fact, Dyer's already trying to his his part for the Tigers by trying to recruit other elite running back to join him at Auburn -- ESPNU150 and four-star backs Marcus Lattimore (Duncan, S.C./James F. Byrnes) and Lache Seastrunk (Temple, Texas/Temple). Dyer has been in touch recently with Lattimore, who officially visited Auburn last week.

"The last few weeks, me and Marcus Lattimore have had conversations and sent texts back and forth trying to figure out what's going on and to see if he's going to go to Auburn or not," Dyer said. "I told him it would be great for both of us to come out there and tag-team and run the ball. He seemed to be very respectful like he would fit into Auburn. I have been working on him to get him to commit there. He's a nice guy and it would be pretty amazing to get him to commit to Auburn."

But with or without another running back joining him, Dyer is comfortable with his decision. While Arkansas has done a good job of keeping most of the in-state stars at home playing for the Razorbacks, Dyer was ready to get out on his own.

"I wanted to go out and do my own thing," Dyer said. "I didn't want to feel like I had to be a star at Arkansas and live up to somebody else's hype. I wanted to go out and live my life according to how I feel. I was my choice.

"I just wanted to go live my life and get a brand new start. It was just what I am looking for."

Current Auburn standout Kodi Burns is from Fort Smith, Ark. He, along with Tigers starting tackle Lee Ziemba (from Rogers, Ark.) bolted the Natural State in 2007 to sign with Auburn and then-head coach Tommy Tuberville (ironically an Arkansas native himself).

"[Burns] said there was hard pressure to go to Arkansas being an Arkansas kid," Dyer said. "He said we lived in Arkansas and we can't help that, but we wanted to expand and do something for ourselves. He chose to go to Auburn for himself. He wanted to go out and do something for his life. He worked for all of that since he was a kid, so he had a right to choose where he wants to go."

Dyer saw parallels with Burns' decision and his own.

"He chose Auburn for a reason and I feel the same way," Dyer said. "If I put in all this time and sweated it out, then I have the right to choose where I want to go, what coaches I want to sit down and talk about my problems with and it's easy when you think about the whole decision, it's really easy.

"Tennessee is going to have a powerhouse team and they are going to be phenomenal in the years to come. I just wanted to make my decision based on what I feel is real.
"Auburn is on the rise," he said. "We want it to be that team that everybody talks about like Florida or LSU. Auburn is going to be that one day. Once we all get there and get on the same page, we are going to make history."

I remember last season when Rodney Scott was suppose to be a Tiger, but De commited to join the rebels. Last saturday he played a role for our team that could have never been expected. He possibly saved the life of Etheridge by laying still. It just goes to show things aren't as bad as they seem initially. Good luck to Rodney Scott , and get well soon Zac
