Default Michigan State vs. Wisconsin
What do you think? This is a hot topic on the Big 10 boards and wanted to see what you guys think. After seeing Wisconsin the first few weeks, they are obviously a little overrated from their lofty preseason ranking. Michigan State on the other hand has exceeded expectations and are now 4-0. While they don't have elite talent, Mich St. is a pretty good sound team under first year coach Mark D'Antonio whom was head coach at Cincinnati the past few seasons and former Ohio State defensive coordinator during the 2002 season. Both teams are undefeated and while this game will be played in Madison, the popular opinion is that Michigan State will beat Wisconsin at home. The Spartans have two really good running backs, while Wisconsin is lead by Heisman hopeful, P.J. Hill whom is a bulldozer. Thoughts?

I think Michigan State will win. I have been thinking they are getting better week by week. I am not impressed with Wisconsin this year. Go Spartans!

Both teams are boring to watch and aren't worth their weight in salt.

Wisconsin struggles at home against a bad UNLV team and gave up 31 to 1aa Citadel. Not to mention last week squeak by a Iowa who had been beaten by a bad Iowa State team.

Then you got Michigan State who has beaten UAB (1-2), Bowling Green State (Who has two wins against Temple and Minnesota), Pitt (2-2) and Notre Dame (0-4).

The best team any of these teams have played is maybe #43 rated Iowa and #69 Bowling Green State. WOW!

Agreed. I am taking the Spartans in this one. Something about the feel of that team and how they are fired up to play. Michigan State is definitely on their way up.

Michigan St. 24 Wisconsin 21

Sorry BamaFanNKY, is there any overrated Pac 10 games worth watching this weekend. I am hoping Washington beats USC so we can see that the Pac is average at best and not the second best conference as everyone claims.

I think there is actually a chance of Washington beating USC. I think if anybody can accomplish that, it is the Huskies! Cal. and UCLA are no pushovers, either.

Washington is a very talented young team. I don't expect USC to roll over them that easily. JMHO.

As much as I'd like to see MSU upset Wisconsin and despite how much improved they look from the John L. Smith era just a year ago, I have to say this is the week the Cinderella story ends for the Spartans.

They haven't played as complete a team as Wisconsin and it's their first real road game as Notre Dame Stadium is now referred to Spartan Stadium South since they've won what, 7 in a row there now? I just think the Badgers will have too much size up front for MSU to contend with over the course of a game. I expect PJ Hill to run roughshod over them and MSU will have to pass more than they like to & as well as Hoyer has done thus far, this isn't Bowling Green, UAB, Pitt or a sad ND team they're playing this week. Madison is a definite homefield advantage...I think it'll be nip & tuck for a half but WIS will literally run away with it in the 2nd half.

WIS 27
MSU 20

Your probably right Wayz. PJ Hill is a monster and like you said, Mich St. hasn't gotten the recruits yet that they need to compete. I will be cheering for the Spartans though. Wisconsin has some of the best and most craziest fans in the country so you know that place will be rockin.

I think Wisconsin should be investigated for cloning 330 pound offensive linemen and just changing the names cuz they have a line of pure road graters year-in and year-out. You're right KN, I think Dantonio will eventually have one of the scarier defenses in the conference, if not the nation in a couple-three years but John L. & company left a very bare cupboard on that side of the ball and I for one am deeply impressed with what the new coaching staff has gotten out of them. I just think they're a little undersized and not quite deep enough to compete for the whole game.

Too bad Wisconsin can't stop offensive power UNLV. Mich. St. will lose since they are at Wisconsin.

Remember how good Ohio State's defense was in 2002 that held the unbeatable Miami team in check? Mark D'Antonio was the mastermind behind that defense and was our DC up until 2004 when he left for Cincinnati. When he left Cincinnati this past year, he took his entire coaching staff with him to Michigan State. BTW, I don't think Cincinnati is hurting right now since they broke into the top 25. D'Antonio is a Tressel diciple and acts just like him. Michigan State will be a power in the Big 10 in a couple years when he gets a chance to get his own recruits in. Wisconsin, does have big o-lineman but so does tOSU, Michigan, and Penn State. Its kind of the Big 10 thing to have huge 6'7" or 6'8" 325 pounds + lineman in order to play smashmouth up the gut football. PJ Hill reminds me so much of former Wisconsin RB and Heisman winner, Ron Dayne.
