Interesting Updates -Groves back to DE
-The Tigers practiced for about 90 minutes on Tuesday and will do the same on Wednesday and Thursday before taking off on Friday and Saturday. Coach Tommy Tuberville said he wants to restore the fun to the team and make it less of a mental week, but the players still worked on the game plan. "The guys last year went out their whole career without losing to Alabama. That would be a great feeling. You dont want to be known as the first class that lost to Alabama in six years. It will be a good feeling to finish out strong." LT King Dunlap on the five-game winning streak
-The media just informally polled the players we interviewed today about their top Iron Bowl memories. The 2003 and 2005 seasons were the most mentioned. If you recall, in 2003 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, RB Carnell Williams broke that 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. In 2005, Auburn set a school record with 11 sacks of Brodie Croyle. The funniest thing to me was that the 11 sacks was the standout memory for Auburn C Jason Bosley. No empathizing with the Tide OL here!
-The players had conflicting reports on whether the five-game winning streak added pressure. LT King Dunlap said there was pressure not to be the first to lose in a few years, while Bosley said no, it wouldn't add pressure.
Dunlap said he and Ryan Pugh are swapping reps as the first team left tackle. Dunlap started three games in Pugh's absence, but Pugh got the start on Saturday.
-The Tigers appear to be healthy with LB Craig Stevens back on the field. That could end the linebacker experiment with Quentin Groves. He said during meetings, he was back with the DEs on Tuesday and seemed to think that's where he'd stay. Tuberville said RB Tristan Davis is back as well and has been running around "pretty good."
-On the Texas A&M front: Aggies fans aren't exactly sold on the Auburn head man, according to what I've seen. One fan site, aggiecoach.com, had a poll asking fans who they would like to see as the next A&M coach. The order: Boise State's Chris Petersen, 38 percent; West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez, 32 percent; Tuberville 21 percent; Cal's Jeff Tedford 10 percent. The site also listed several reasons why Tuberville shouldn't be the next A&M coach, including his age, his buyout of $6 million, that he's won only one SEC title and that the Tigers are currently unranked.
