Auburn What I saw Saturday
First of my heart and prayers goes out to Zack Ethridge and his family. 33\40 reported this morning on the 5:00AM news his injury was a career ending injury. He is expected to have a full recovery but not play football again.

Now from sec. 10 row 50. I saw our young players growing up. I must admit I was very, very worried before the game we were going to loose our fourth game in a row, what a great suprise!!!

We still have some growing to do, I did not have the benifit of TV analysist but I think Eltoro got pulled for not staying at home. He made some great tackles but I think their long touchdown run from scrimage was run over where Eltoro should have been.

Todd looked better but still not as good as the first five games.

What excites me more than anything is we will have an extra game to attend this year and I am starting to become excited about our 2010 team and think we may be a power to be reckoned with in 2011!

WDE!!!

What i saw on my 55in big screen was a great effort from the limited players Auburn has. The one thing i have noticed all year was Auburns lack of speed on defense. The KO return by Gandy and the long td run by McCluster plus Sneads first down run on 3rd and long were hard to watch. Too many times this year our linebackers and dbacks have taken bad angles then dive at the runners feet and come up short. I will take the win but we have a long way to go to be able to compete with UF and AL. The next signing class better have some speed.

What I saw Saturday? Auburn played with heart. They wanted to win. I think they understood how important it was to win this game for their program. This could be the turnaround they needed. It was a great game for the Tigers.

If you're interested in playing in the 2010 SECTalk Fantasy Baseball League, post in the Games and Fantasy forum and let us know.

I agree with all of the comments and thank you ThunderReb. I know this season is what it is but after seeing our players growing up and playing hard I am getting very hopeful for the future years. I may have been worried about the games but I haven't given up on the players or the coaching staff.

I didn't notice Eltoro getting pulled..was it in the third quarter? Did he come back in at all?

I understand busting assignments is a detriment, but the guy obviously has a ton of talent and is bound to make mistakes. I hope he doesn't get benched for another 3 games while Herring gets tossed around like a rag doll

Tate is a beast.

Man I feel bad for Ethridge I know he loved football and I wish him the best!

Like I said before, the Ole Miss fans were very classy about the injuries as were the Auburn fans. I was glad to see that.

Good game guys and I really hope Auburn prepares/tries this hard all season.

My observations:

1) Our young guys are growing up. We don't have the depth or talent of most other SEC schools right now, but 2 years down the road we'll be glad all these freshmen/sophomores were in the games- especially the big ones.

2) Our defensive angles are TERRIBLE. Twice Snead converted on 3-and-17.

3) If we had a consistently good QB, (better than Todd) our offense would be great. Tate is a tough as nails runner who doesn't seem all that fast until you see DB's chasing him down the sideline... I can't wait to get McCalebb healthy and more experienced. We need fewer penalties from our OL (we've got a good OL recruiting class) and will be needing a couple playmaker recievers next year. We've still got the power run, under center players but that should change in the next 2 years.

4) The rest of this season we need to keep playing with the same intensity we had Saturday. Dedicate the rest of the year to my boy Etheridge and playing for nothing but pride. War Eagle!

5) Oh yeah- and we're gonna beat Alabama.

I agree. It looks as though the team has developed a good, strong chemistry and that they believe in their coach.

All I can say is, we are going to be a very solid program in a year or 2 and I am more excited about that than I am about anything else right now. Rollison, Tate, McCalebb, Darvin, Freeman, etc....

Yes, Auburn will be back and be strong. But, so will Bama and LSU, and Arkansas is coming on strong. Ole Miss is regressing and Miss State will pretty much stay the same. The West is a beast. And in the East, look for Tennessee to begin a dominate streak as the Tebow-less Gators hit a small decline. UGA continues to fall and South Carolina will stay about the same, leaving Kentucky and Vanderbilt to fight for the cellar.

The strength of the SEC the next couple of years:
  1. LSU
  2. Alabama
  3. Tennessee
  4. Florida
  5. Auburn
  6. Arkansas
  7. South Carolina
  8. Georgia
  9. Ole Miss
  10. Miss State
  11. Kentucky
  12. Vanderbilt

I definitely do not agree with your ranking but I do agree that the West is the best and the East is the least. Aside from UF, every team in the East has 3 or more losses this year...

its pretty much between auburn lsu bama and FL for the sec title in the next few years, i say auburn wins it 3-4 years from now and the other three fight for it untill then. i say lsu and bama in the title game next year and possibly the year after.
