Are you Barners still sold on Brandon Cox? He's not hurt and he' still not good. He cannot, repeat, cannot, throw the long ball. Do you have a backup with some skills? Cox still seems fragile and I don't see him making it after a couple of tough SEC games. He's a smart kid and a respected leader, I think, but he just doesn't have the requisite skills to be a successful SEC QB.
If he gets hit by LSU as much as he did by KSU he'll fold like a paper tent. I've said all along this kid is terrible. He certainly didn't do anything to convince me otherwise last night.
He's 21-5 as a starter, but he'll never be successful.
Cox is a good quarterback, but not a great athelete. ESPN put up a chart in the 3rd quarter of last night's game, Cox had been sacked 5 times and pressured 8 times. Again, this is mid way through the 3rd. Any drop back pro-style quarterback will struggle under those conditions, and Cox isn't known for his ability to ad lib and create something out of nothing.
Put him in the right situation and he's as good as any QB in the SEC. Give him no time to throw and constant pressure, and he's not the right type of quarterback to succeed in that situation.
Im not so worried about the vistor team advantge thats been going on for such a ong time in "College Football's oldest Rilvary" this year.
One game in, we might as well not even play the rest, because we've seen all that we need to see and certainly nothing will change between now and January.
