I don't remember. Many of the big plays in 04 came from passes to the TE's and backs, and rarely ever would you see a WR more than 20 yards downfield.

EDIT: Here is a complete highlight of the big plays of the 2004 season. There's only one deep ball on here, at about 2:40 in against Tennessee.

Brandon Cox will not go down in the books as one of the best Auburn QB's. That much we are sure of. He will probably go down as one of the winningest though. That will probably be overlooked by most. He showed something along with the rest of the team Saturday night that I think most here are also overlooking in their attempt to write of the "Barn" in 07. They were rusty, had several players taking the field for the first time, they made mistakes that I doubt will be seen next week (just like anyone else that has played a real team thus far ) but in the end, when they were down and time was running out they did what we've seen Auburn do time and again. They dug down and found a way to win. They didn't buckle under the pressure. They stepped up and won the game when they had to or lose. Wile Brandon Cox will never be know as a Joe Montana, he did put together a brilliant drive against a very solid defense and won the game. The defense only gave up one touchdown all night and that was on a drive that featured trick plays to be sucessful. Does Auburn have issues that must be address? Of course. Every team in the SEC does. I think I've figured out one main reason so many here really hate Auburn. I think it is due to the fact that even when they are not playing good they usually find a way to fight and claw and come out with a win. And that drives certain people to distraction.

You're absolutely right about that. Over the years, Auburn has done that several times. When you thought it was a lost cause and time was running out, they dug down deep and found what they needed. Such Auburn heroics can be traced all the way back to the Pat Dye days. However, I do think Tubby has the best knack for it. As unlikable as he is to me as an LSU fan, he is one helluva coach... no doubt about that.

Uuuummm, I think that "secret's" been out for awhile.

BTW, Cox is pretty bad. Auburn hasn't won a single game BECAUSE of him, for sure. I'll have to respectfully disagree with ol' ramp, too; because while repeatedly getting up from a sack certainly COULD indicate toughness, it doesn't seem so tough when you go down if a DL even farts in your direction.

I would venture to say that we wouldn't have won the 05 UGA game w/o him. 4th and 12 and fires a strike to Aromashadu for a HUGE play w/ the game on the line. THe guy has to have a running game and weapons at WR to be effective. Our OL and Receivers have taken a step back since then.

OK, I exaggerated for effect, about not winning a single game with his arm... every dog has his day. But the kid just seems injury-prone to me. Yesterday, after a particularly light hit, he laid on the ground for what seemed like minutes before "remembering" he was supposed to act hurt and grabbed his right shoulder. I don't know if it's melodrama worthy of a Daytime Emmy Award, or if he's just soft; but, he either acts hurt to garner attention and the appearance of sacrificing himself for the team, or he's playing the wrong sport, and needs to take up golf.

I do agree with you and noticed myself he seemed a little slow getting up from the hit you reference, but even you must admit that he took a beatdown time and time again all game long and always kept coming back.

This thread seems to have turned into how deplorable Cox is...I think the above quote says it....he may not be the best QB, but come on that offensive line was the worst....no QB is goona look good with that O-line...give him SOME time in the pocket and he is very accurate...O-line absolutely needs serious work

The only thing I'm tired of his Cox is like a deer in the headlights when a DL comes at him. For some reason he forgets to throw the ball away. It doesn't help that he is a cemented pole stuck in the ground and can't get away from a 300 lb DL. He is smart when it comes to changing plays but he has average skill. All I can say is I can't wait till Kodi Burns starts. Jason Campbel was good because he had above average passing skills and he could move faster than a beached whale unlike Cox! It's not all Cox's fault though if we has USC O line I'm sure Cox can get stats like all the past USCal qb's. Instead he only gets half a second to look around to throw the ball. Our offense should do more three TE setts and make people pay for stacking the box and blitzing.

I forgot to note that Cox is a greatly accurate passer... when he has more than half a second to throw.
