I know it has to do with the season approaching rapidly and all, but I'm getting some good vibes with our fall practice reports.....I'm trying to stay even-keeled about it, as I know we haven't even put on the pads fully and started knocking heads yet. But I'm getting a more positive impression about our OL and about Beecher's performances thus far......just thought I'd share that.

Friday's opening practice probably had the most spectators there since Spurrier's first fall practice in '05......at least a thousand strong. The new University President made an appearance, as did our new BB Coach Horn, and our old track Coach Frye. We've had almost as many recruits show up for the practices as we've had players, it seems: Demario Jeffery came, saw and committed on Friday. Corey Addison did the same yesterday. Chris Bonds showed up with his parents on Friday, as did '09 commitment Chris Payne. Tonight Stephon Gilmore showed up with his Father, as did David Sims,
Eric Mack, Alshon Jeffery, and '09 commitment Charles Holmes.

There were actually 2,000 there, and is was stated today that everyone from Spurrier down feels this is gonna be a 'special' year.

lacene, is the offense and defense practicing together again since the earlier meltdown between the two. Or did Spurrier split the two up to better learn how to become a team?

He stopped practice and made them run, and they returned to normal the next day.

I was gonna write something very similar. The way I've felt about the practices, the talent we have returning, the difference in Spurrier's demeanor the last couple of weeks, the way our schedule plays out, the (knock on wood) low amount of offseason problems and injuries... I'm reluctant to say it after our meltdown last year but it's staring us right in the face. A great season is in the mix my friends.

I dunno, it was kind of eerie, TD......the next day of practice, Spurrier had a pig pickin' for the whole team, as a way to build brotherhood. The team just tore into that pig with a veracity that almost reached animal level....I mean, they really tore that pig UP. Anyhow, after they were done licking the BBQ sauce off the tin foil, they just looked at each other, laughed and start giving out man hugs (you know: shoulder-bumps). Ever since then, there's been nothing but perfect harmony within the team.......

That's just wonderful. I hate to see a washed up overrated coach ruin a group of young men that has a chance to better a program which a huge fan base supports so well.
Did you get any word how the players felt getting the best of a pig, since they always seen to find a way to get their gamecock butts beat every year by Razorbacks.

At first glance I was thinking the same thing. Anyways, this thing "in the air" could be that vampire virus thing going around...., you never know.....

Don't say that! We will have to be very vigilant, now... has there been any strange behavior indicative of vampires?

Come on lacene honestly, you really don't believe that do you? I know you and I go at each other in good fun. So please tell the rest of the room that you would take Petrino and his amazing work habit over the golf playing old timer that's blows his stack at practice what seems to be every other day.
but...
If you still want to be hard headed and stick it out with the ole ball coach, then that's fine with me pal. I'll be happy with our washed up coach as you put it, and I guess you and I will sit back and follow the progress of each guy.
I wonder which one will take his team to a championship first?
Spurrier vs Meyer, Richt, Johnson, Brooks and Fulmer.
while,
Petrino vs Saban, Tuberville, Nutt, Croom and Miles.
See you in Atlanta in a few years lacene.

That's why I love SEC football so much. The opportunity to play against so many of the best teams in the nation. Spurrier has said that this is the first time since he's been here that we "look" like an SEC team. We've always been undersized and lacked depth, but not this year (in most positions).

We've lost more of the close ones than we've won. This year, we've made the most concerted effort ever, to work on the special teams play that can improve that stat. Our defense will surprise alot of opponents that enjoyed walking over us last year. It remains to be seen if our OL will finally figure out what to do, but Jariel King will be an immediate help and will add depth. (Anderson looks to be out for the season). If we can get some protection, I think we have adequate QB's to find our, numerous and more than adequate, targets. We don't have a Moreno at RB, but Davis and Maddox will offer enough balance on offense to keep opponents guessing.

The excitement for me is, hopefully, seeing some improvement in areas that we were weak and watching how some of the highly touted recruits have come along. Couple that with being tested by the best of the best, is as good as it can get in college football.

Hee hee.....you're a laugh a minute, TD. As for the two coaches, I think SOS's track record more than stands up for itself....no need for me to defend it. But I'd take a coach that blows his stack any day over a coach that blows town after a year or two.

And tell me how is Petrino going to win a championship against just the West division coaches? What championship does the West play for? Petrino will most likely have to win against Meyer, Richt, and Fulmer too, if he's to actually win. Your above comparison is a little off.

Like you, ole buddy! :goodjob:
