He was a big-time receiver that many of you might remember from last year. Several SEC teams were recruiting him.

After meeting with coach Bob Stoops on Friday morning, freshman Josh Jarboe has been dismissed from the University of Oklahoma football team.

The university announced the decision in a press release this afternoon.

"We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program" OU coach Bob Stoops said in the press release "We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."

Jarboe, a highly recruited receiver from Georgia, signed with OU in February. In May, he was sentenced to two years probation for a bringing a gun to his high school. This week, Jarboe was the subject of a 74-second video in which he's seen rapping. His obscenity-laced rap included references to guns and shooting people.

Jarboe attended Cedar Grove (Ga.) High School. In March, an assistant principal at the school caught him in possession of a pistol in the school parking lot.

Jarboe was initially charged with a felony, but his crime was reduced to a misdemeanor. He was sentenced to two years probation and 80 hours of community service.

To bad for him that he sucks as a rapper.

Too bad for him that Stoops hates rap. Apparently, the misdemeanor gun possession on school property was one thing, but when he tried to rap, that was the final straw.

(sarcasm off) I'm proud of Stoops for making a stand. Although alot of rap music talks about killing people, it's up to people that have had enough of that attitude to say, "get out."

The thing is, before Jarboe made it on campus, Stoops had this to say, “We feel that he will be a positive contributor to our campus,” Stoops said. “We have already stressed to him that his citizenship is of the upmost importance. He understands that anything less than exemplary behavior will not be tolerated.”

I think that was the proverbial "nail in his coffin" so to speak.

I'll tell you what's hilarious about this whole situation... and not a little ironic. Stoops gets rid of Josh Jarboe because he says he concerned about character issues. Then, with the freed up schollie, he picks up Jarvis Jones, who was just kicked of LSU's team for character issues.

Am I the only person who's noticed that all Stoops did was trade one bad JJ for another bad JJ? You know Jones must have had some serious issues if LSU got rid of him... he actually played in 7 games for them last year.

One more player gone the gangster way.... He probably doesn't even realize it is soooo much cooler to be a respected athlete on a team like Oklahoma. He might think about it later.

It has OU fans a little worred. But an LSU fan told me(and it may have been discussed on here a lot more) on another site that it was due to him skipping practices/meetings.

If that's the case, then I'm sure Stoops has expressed that it won't happen at OU. I can tell you from experience that Stoops may let some guys get away with things, but skipping practice is not one of them.

Is it me or does every single rap song sound exactly like the next?

Boom, clap. Boom-boom, clap. Boom, clap. Boom-boom, clap.

And if it isn't done with a clap, it's done with a snap.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SNARE DRUMS?

I don't know. I can't speak for Stoops on this one. I do know that he has put players so far down on the depth chart that they almost always transfer because they don't go to classes. (Brandon Braxton/Moe Dampeer/Brent Rawls etc.)

Now that is with an excessive amount(with their grades being at risk). I would think that 1 or 2 classes being missed just gets you some extra conditioning. But I honestly couldn't say one way or another.

Thanks for the news out of Sooner camp, SM. I enjoy hearing about what's going on with Oklahoma. I always pull for y'all against Texas and Nebraska.

You'll probably get your wish in a few more weeks. The cowbells will be ringing out every Saturday afternoon. ;)
