COLA -- Little updating of the USC storylines as that Aug. 1 practice date creeps closer.
3) CLEMSON WEB SITES
As you know, Spurrier mentioned Tuesday that someone from a Clemson Web site has been spreading negative information to USC recruits.
Spurrier didn't name the person specifically, leading some (radio, newspapers, etc.) to draw their own conclusions who was/is doing this.
There's a lot I don't know about this, and probably a lot we'll never know about this. But here's what I do know:
** The operators of the two of the larger Clemson Web sites, TigerIllustrated.com (Rivals) and CUTigers.com (Scout), have denied any involvement.
** I know, in the past, that Spurrier has asked about Cris Ard, the operator of the Rivals site. Ard, you might remember from a couple of years ago, came under fire for being an IPTAY member/Clemson booster. (He promised to step back and discontinue making calls to Tigers recruits.) That's what made him an instant culprit. But it doesn't make him guilty of anything necessarily.
** I know Spurrier and Tommy Bowden have talked about this matter in a discussion that was described to me as somewhat heated. Clemson's coaches admitted knowing that such a packet had been sent out, but they said they weren't aware of who did it, either.
I feel sorry for Clemson now...wait no i don't...but in any case...Spurrier is gonna wanna beat the CRAP out of them this year....if he ever has a chance to run up the score against them...he'll do it it now!
