The 2004 Auburn D shouldn't be ranked lower than 2. That D was better than the 2006 Gators D and the 1998 Vols.

I legitimately feel like the 05 defense is at least top 4. That defense was sick, may go up to number 2 on my list, but I'd say '92 Bama; '03 LSU; 05; Bama; 04 Barney. Considering how crap our offense was in 05, the fact that the defense that was on the field a decent bit, and rarely given any cushion in the score was disciplined enough, and smart enough to do what they did and give up only 10 pts much of the season, was remarkable . That D rarely if ever faced a possession in which it wasn't absolutely crucial that they got a stop. Rarely got the opportunities to pin their ears back and gamble with very exotic blitzes all the time, just extremely disciplined and smart. And the results and statistics show that it was better than 7th on that list. And I believe that if we'd had an offense that year and had a more successful season, no doubt that D would've been looked upon with a bit more respect. It was like the ultimate bend but don't break unit.

The gap between #1 and #2 is huge That 92 Defense was just nasty.The 2005 Bama defense was sneaky good only given up 10.7 points per game which is right behind the 92 Bama D.

Again, no offense that year, in fact much worse. I was actually gonna make a claim for that unit in my earlier post, but I guess I didn't want to look too much like a homer :D (Besides, Bama's represented enough ;))

one of state's defenses from 98-2000 has to be on there....mostly the 99 when we won ten games....we had the number one defense in the country!!....come on....
