It kinda surprised me USC opened as a 13 point favorite over NCSU. The Bama line will kickoff at between 2 and 3 points.

I thought we'd be about an 8 or 9 point favorite. It'll probably move closer to that as game day approaches.

Yeah but SF is leagues away from ULM in talent. What else do you got to say.

I guess the odds makers have not been perusing this site when making their lines. If they had they would have seen posts that say Bama will win it all this year and then Bama would be the five point favorite. Anyways, I hope the Tide rolls here and starts a 2-0 record of the SEC beating Clemson this year.

I think we'll probably be around a 24 point favorite over Hawaii. Anyone know if the line is out on that game yet?

I haven't seen one Bama fan say we would be favored in that game. I do think we'll win it. The game will probably kickoff with Bama a 3 point underdog.

I figured we would open as a 7-9 dog.Isnt Clemson expected to start the season preseason ranked #5 to #8

They're #9 overall. 2008 Consensus Top 25 Preseason (http://www.lsufootball.net/articles/2008-preseason-polls.htm)

And, man, do I wish I had about $1000 to spare. I ain't buying the Clemson Kool-aid. First, they play in the ACC; so, whatever accomplishments they do earn have to be judged against the weak level of competition. Remember, this is the worst BCS conference... even lower than the Big Least. Second, they are always predicted to do this or that, and always manage to burst into flames... I'm blaming the coach who seems to always do the least with the most. Bobby's daughter has been there for 10 years, and despite great recruiting classes, she can't seem to make them a consistently good program. Look at how they keep underachieving while she's been there:

Start out in '99 at 6-6. Take 1 step forward to 9-3. Then take 2 steps backwards and go 7-5 and 7-6. Take a step forward to 9-4. Take a step backwards to 6-5. Then 2 very average seasons of 8-4 and 8-5, before going 9-4 last year.

After all those lofty predictions for them, they've only finished the season ranked in the Top 25 in 4 of her 9 seasons, and they haven't been anywhere near the top: 16th in '00, 22nd in '03, 21st in '05, and 21st in '07.

How this chick keeps getting raises and extensions with results like that perplexes me. Just goes to show what kind of expectations they have in the All Cupcake Conference. Those finishes would get you fired after 3 years at any of the SEC schools who are regularly projected to do as well as Clemson has been.

Clemson seems to always be full of hype recently. They will probably be ranked at around 7-10 but IMO I feel they should be around 11-14. I do feel that they will beat BAMA simply because that two headed running back duo of Spiller and J. Davis will be fully healthy and Cullen Harper is one of the nations most overloooked passers. If this game were to be played at a later date I feel the Tide may have gained the experience to pull off a W. However, being this early in the season I dont kno if Ol Saban can pull out a W in the GADome. Should be exciting game to see and Clemson ususally disappoints.

It would certainly be a great start for the Tide if they could pull that first game out with a "W" AT Clemson. But I think Clemson will probably be favored in just about everyone of their games throughout the season .... if preseason hype is correct on the Tigers. We'll sure be pulling for the Tide in that one!

It's in the Ga. Dome and I would bet Bama will have more fans there than CU will. You know how rabid us Bama fans are! :) My brother lives in Cumming, north of Atlanta and hopes to score tickets for us.

ULM will probably hang with the War Eagles to half time, but then Auburn will flex their muscles and blow the boys for Monroe out in the second half. Probably to the tune of something like 52 - 6. You just don't want to let those guys hang around late in the third quarter with a little confidence; if that happens....the state of Alabama could be in a state of shock again...but the stars would have to align a certain way for that happen, and that has already happened in last year's game against the Tide. So I think the WarEagles can feel pretty dog-gone good about their match-up with the Warhawks of ULM on August 30th.

Yeah, still consider a home game for the Tigers. How are the tickets for that game divided up?

My guess is 50/50 but dont be suprised to see a 65-35 Bama crowd.

Alabama and Clemson will each receive about 33,000 tickets, according to Stokan.

No doubt Bama will have more fans there. Clemson is having a very hard time selling season tickets. They've got billboards all over the Greenville/Spartanburg area advertising season ticket books.

they should promote in Alabama, because Bama fans will buy out the Clemson season tickets to get the Bama/Clemson game.

Here is another page at that Vegas site that lists all the 120 Div. 1A programs, and the # of returning starters they will have for 2008. Half of the ACC programs fall within the bottom 16 of 120 (GT at 118, VT at 112, UV at 111, NCST at 110, BC at 109, and UM at 105). Talk about a walk in the park for any team that wins the ACC.....

Harper is a great QB against ACC defenses. Every good/decent defense they played he was avg at best.

Vegas writer Brian Edwards is a cuckoo clock ready to chime. His Top 10 is beyond pitiful, and his depth of perspective is a shade short of shallow. This could be a big, big stage for Bama and Nick Saban. They will be ready. Here's hoping that Alabama beats the living crap out of Clemson. Geaux SEC! Geaux Bama!
