I just saw 311, Snoop, and Fiction Plane in Cincy on Saturday. Great show, great after party.
I saw Soilent Green, Chimaira and Dethklok at the Tabernacle (great show, Chimaira was awesome) and the big one I'm looking forward to is the Rockstar Mayhem Festival in August at Lakewood. There's a ton of bands playing, but the big ones are Disturbed, Slipknot, Machine Head, Mastodon, Dragonforce, Five Finger Death Punch, 36 Crazyfists and Black Tide.

I've liked 36 for years, although all of their stuff sounds pretty much the same. Pass on 5 finger death punch.
Black Tide is pretty awesome, though. Hearing old school metal like that, it amazes me that nobody in the band is even 20, yet. I think the singer is only 16.

I'm on the country side of things...saw a huge stadium show at Williams brice with Kenny Chesney, Leann Rimes, Brooks and Dunn, Gary Allan, and Luke Bryan. And let me just say that Leann Rimes made that Gamecock jersey look mighty fine!!!

5 finger is ok.... you're right, Black Tide is awesome... very impressive for their age. Although when you listen to their lyrics, its very obvious that they are young. Music is good though.
Mastodon is from Atlanta, and they always draw a great local crowd of supporters. Did I mention they are good, too?
Machine Head, I'm probably the most excited about. IMO, one of the top 5 Metal bands of all time. If you haven't got their latest album "The Blackening" you should... its flat out awesome. Can't wait to see them live.
Going to see Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick....they are touring together this summer.

I am looking forward to John Mellancamp with Lucinda Williams in July in Chicago. For those that do not know Lucinda, she is awesome and has an incredible guitarist that accompanies her in Doug Pettibone.

I am a big My Morning Jacket fan, but I have not heard anything from their new album. What do you think of their new album Bburton86?

Nah. I spend a lot of time checking out local bands in Lex. and Lou. I wouldn't even have gone to that concert in Cincy if it hadn't been for 311. Def. one of the best live bands out there.
Snoop put on an entertaining show, he came out in a Chad Johnson jersey which was sweet, but let's be honest. Unless you're the Beastie Boys, live rap licks juevos gigantes.

When I first heard it I was like "what the eff is this???"
Then after a couple of listens it sunk in how INCREDIBLE the album was. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. So many gems on it. Especially, the last track, "Touch Me I'm Going To Scream, Pt. 2."
They played all but 2 tracks from the latest album at their FOUR hour show (12-4 AM) at Bonnaroo and they were all amazing. Here (http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=515931) is the setlist/bootleg from the show. Another one of the Bonnaroo sets that will go down in the history books. This band is blowing up right now.

It really was, man. I went from being an average fan to a hardcore fan in that 3 hrs. I love when that happens! No CD can do it....only live performances. That's why I spend way too much money on concerts every year, haha.
It was total luck on the tickets too. I actually had seats 10 rows from the very back of the Fox when I purchased them the date they went on sale. I've gone to enough concerts to know Ticketmaster always releases decent seats the last couple weeks before a show though...even soldout shows. Sure enough I checked one night and 2nd row of the whole theatre and almost dead center popped up. It was crazy. I was less than 5 yards from the dude all night. EPIC!
Journey sounds amazing with that new singer. But I hate Cheap Trick so I will not be going to see that.I don't like Cheap Trick either, but I love Heart and like Journey......my wife loves Journey and we've seen them every year that past 6 yrs.....seen em with Def Leppard, Styx and REO.

They are fo' sho, and while we're on the subject, some other famous groups from the Bluegrass would include the aforementioned My Morning Jacket, Nappy Roots,Exile (I want to touch you all over.....and over again....), Days of the New and of course their offshoot Tantric, VHS or Beta.
There are countless country musicians that many of you know that are from here, I can't even begin to go into that. I think KY and TN have the lockdown on sheer #s of famous country musicians they've produced. In fact, I'd be willing to bet on that lol
Anyway, you know, any excuse to show my Kentucky state pride :D

Clearly you've never made out with a chick in a bar because you wisely selected "Pour some Sugar on me" on the jukebox... and then in an even more brilliant move, followed that up with "take me home tonight."

Loverboy played Alabaster City fest (average size city park) a few years ago...they still didn't disappoint.
Still pissed I missed out on Radiohead in ATL
The new My Morning Jacket is garbage, IMO.
Louisville had a great scene back in the day. Split Lip, Elliott, Endpoint, By the Grace of God, etc.
I want to see Dokken and leave before Poison. Oh, and I will be at Def Leppard

First of all, I don't go to bars for social interactions. They are not fulfilling to me. Secondly, if I did go and heard that RUBBISH on the jukebox, I would smash it with a crowbar and forcefully rape all the women within the proximity.

Their new album is good front to back. It's worth getting. It's a little heavier than there old stuff. I can't way to see them again, now that they have a new set to play

I've seen some great shows in the past. To name a few:
- Umphrey's Mcgee on the side of Hunter Mountain in New York in a flash flood. It got cut a little short due to ankle deep water and lighting, but it was crazy fun.
- Gov't Mule at Bonnaroo a little over a year ago playing all the way to 3:45 in the morning (45min over their 3 hour set). Slamming Black Sabath covers and jammin' out Soulshine. Bubbles, lights, lazers, and frantic fans until everyone was falling out.
- John Paul Jones (Zeppelin), Ben Harper, and Quest Love in the Super Jam at Bonnaroo, climbing on unstable structures.
- Les Claypool at Bonnaroo over two years ago. The colonel is one of a kind.
- moe. at the Echo Project in Atlanta. It was late night, hundreds of glow sticks flying through the air, a pack of rowdy fans, and moe. brought the funk.
- Robert Randolph at the Tabernacle a year or two ago. You would have had to been there. That was one of the sickest shows I've seen.
- Ziggy Marley, the Allman Brothers, Galactic, My Morning Jacket, ect... various places and times
The sad part is that gas and air fare are soring, work is slowing down, and I'm burning a lot of my vacation on a buddy's wedding in Michigan. I don't think I'll get to do any of that this year. Maybe next year.

Mule is sick. No doubt about it. I saw .moe at UK a few years ago....eh...wasn't overly impressed. Seemed like the same ole same ole. The Family Band is where it's at fo' sho'. And obviously from my name on here, I have an affinity for all things Primus/Claypool.

I was there x4.
I stumbled onto Mule last year without ever listening to them. I quickly fell in love during this show.
Superjams are always tough but these guys nailed it. Ben Harper can wail, ?uestLove is a genius and JPJ is a badass.
Les Claypool is amazing, solo, with Primus, in a Superjam or by himself on a street corner.
Not huge into .moe but that was a fun show. Is Echo gonna happen again this year? They said last year it was gonna go on for atleast 10 years but I haven't heard anything except some rumblings this year at Roo that it was on but nothing official.

Just got back from Def Leppard/Joan Jett. Great show, I am not a Joan Jett fan...but she did a pretty good job. And she only played 50 minutes. Def Lep always rocks the stage and puts on a great show, so it was a hell of a concert. Here is the Def Lep setlist.
Rocket
Animal
Let's Get Rocked
C'mon c'mon
Foolin'
Mirror, Mirror
Nine Lives
Love Bites
Bass Solo
Rock On
Two Steps Behind
Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Switch 625
Hysteria
Armageddon It
Photograph
Pour Some Sugar on me
Encore: Bad Actress; Rock of Ages
We're going to see Jonny Lang Saturday Aug. 30 at the Ryman in Nashvegas! Can't wait, I think Lang is one of the best blues/rockers out there, a phenomenal talent.
