View Full Version : How about an Official SEC Talk Top 25?

Since we see so many polls from the "experts" why not make an Official SEC Talk Top 25 based on our collective opinions. What I was thinking is everyone can list (in this thread) their own Top 25 on how they believe the season will play out and after 3 weeks or so, I will calculate the data into an average of every member's polls which will result into the Official Top 25.
To be accurate, build your Top 25s based on how you believe the season will turn out or better yet, base it on what you see the FINAL Top 25 of the 2008-09 season.
Wow, awesome idea tim.

Not sure about that list, TT....
Picking the top 25 at the beginning of the year is such a crap shoot that there will be teams that disappoint and teams that over achieve. Just look at the 2005 Vols. Do you remember the preseason ranking of the Vols during the 5-6 debacle? They were ranked #3 behind USC and Texas. Herbstreit picked them to be in the BCS championship game. Besides, I like to be different.

I know they've got talent, Im not a Weis hater ( I think he's a really really good offensive coach that got extremely lazy preparing his team last year) and that Tenuta should help their D. But a lot of their talent is young, and I just don't see them winning more than 8 games (probably 7). But they'll be ready by 09 to be a real force.

Tejas must replace 5 of its Back 7 on D and its Pass D was already one of the Nation's most pathetic. There are concerns at LB as well so newbie Muschamp has his work cut out for him. On O, losing Charles early hurts for a noob must replace him and more noobs will then back him up. The WR corps isn't scaring anyone either and while highly touted QB McCoy is a year more experienced, his teammates ain't.
Any program depending on true freshmen as hole pluggers is only fooling itself. The opposition will exploit them early and often, for behind them are more noobs without experience!

Losing Charles is no big deal as Texas, like most elite programs, always have an answer @ tailback. UT's pass defense was piss poor last, so what's the big deal about losing those players? Muschamp will more than make up for the losses with a much more aggressive scheme.

Kansas & Missouri on the schedule, along with Division foe Texas Tech in Lubbock are three reasons is the "big deal". That's three losses and we still have the Sooners, aTm, and what will prove to be a tougher game than anybody suspects, Florida Atlantic to open with.
Texas will make a lot of Top 25's on rep alone but this will be the weakest bunch of future Ruth's Chris main courses in the last few seasons. Four losses would not surprise me one bit.

Great Idea Tim. we will post our predictions in a flash, so they will be ready in a minute. And we'll call ourselves the Mayberry Minute men, fans who post their top 25 in a moments notice..........'WILL YOU HELP US SHERIFF"............
And we can meet in the Capstone tree house and have milk and cookies.
I'll run home and get the flashlight, a bottle of pop and a box of Twinkies....what are you bringing?

They're struggling to stay afloat in a conference which suddenly has become much tougher than its ever been... and in case you hadn't noticed... Colt McCoy has thus far been an absolute flop.
Seems many weren't thinking too highly of this years' REAL UT!! :D
Man, what hires Muschamp and Applewhite were!!
