Many on this board don't really seem to know what exactly Arkansas offense is going to look like next season. They think Petrino and immediately think, "Pass happy" but this is not the case at all.

To set the record straight here and now. This is what the Power Spread is: Essentially, the power spread is a balanced attack that spends about two-thirds of a game in modern spread formations, and the other third running traditional power-I football. That basic system allows Bobby Petrino to utilize his "FTS" (feed the studs) philosophy.Petrino was quoted back in 2005 in referring to the philosophy behind the power spread as saying, "The first thing our offense is about is utilizing our weapons. We have a philosophy that we call 'FTS' -- feed the studs. We want to get the ball to our best players and make sure we utilize the guys who can go out and make plays."

At Louisville, Petrino managed to lead the nation in total offensive yards and points. In 2004, Louisville was the only team to rank in the top 10 in both pass offense (288.6 per game) and rush offense (250.4 yards per game).

Both in terms of offensive production and playcalling, the offense is designed to be completely split down the middle 50% run, 50% pass.

Looking back at old game film of Louisville's numerous wins over Kentucky and West Virginia, it is easy to see (even adorned by the commentators) that the offense is as balanced as an offense can get.

After Petrino's exodus from Louisville, a nearly identical team fell into mediocrity. The impact Petrino has on a program as a coach and playcaller is readily apparent.

Sure, I know many of you are thinking, "Yeah, but this is the SEC. And Arkansas doesn't usually have headliner talent." True, but neither did Louisville, even in a Bad conference USA and a defense-starved Big East. Louisville never had a top 25 recruiting class under Petrino, and were usually middle of the pack. It's been Petrino's ability to develop talent where no one else can see it, and instill essential leadership qualities in his QB's that has made his college teams so successful. Petrino can and will succeed in this league with this team. Arkansas may not set the world on fire in his first season, but he'll singe some SEC tails at the very least.

Petrino's system is unpredictable, that's how he designed it, and that's why it's so successful. There is a reason most in the country consider him to be the best playcaller in the game of college football.

No, I think it means that Petrina can't recruit any more than a few stud players.
