I think we all agree that everything around Independent Notre Dame stinks (especially their BCS bowl connections), but should Army & Navy join a conference to play for Championships and end the "Independent" label for football?

Good point, I think all teams should be in a conference and be REQUIRED to play a conference championship game to be eligible for the NC.

I think everyone should be in a conference. But the military schools are special because of who they can recruit and everything.

I don't think the military schools should be any different. It you want a hot at the NC you should be required to be part of a conferance. Point Blank. JMO

It might be better if they were all in a conference, but I think it should be up to them whether or not they are. I don't think they should be forced to be.

No they shouldn't be forced....but if they don't...no chance for a championship, no bowl games :thumpsup:

Dude, they dont contend for the NC ever. Point blank. But in other views, they should go to bowls if they win enough games because Air Force and Navy play well. Air Force is in the mountain west and do fine, so I believe Navy and Army would be OK in a conference, but they are different than all other schools.

No, all the military service schools are restricted by law who can attend. They cannot go out like a normal college and recruit. You have to meet certain restrictions to attend said instituitions. They shouldn't have to join a conference. If their respective record says they should be invited to play in a BCS game, then invite them.

Of coarse they will never contend. But MHO is they shouldn't play on bowl games if they aren't in a conferance. The Air Force is in a conferance so should the rest.

I agree with you! Navy and Army can survive on their own as Independant, because everything Army and Navy have is paid for by taxpayers and the U.S Goverment. Notre Dame is the one that shouldn't be Independent.
