So the WKU Hilltoppers are making the jump to Division I-A/FBS football starting with their games this year and to become a full member of the Sun Belt in 2009 I believe. They are currently members of the Sun Belt in basketball as well, so the move seems logical, but there has been a lot of talk about WKU being a better fit for the MAC. Where does WKU belong in your opinion?

MAC is not happening. You'll have more of a chance seeing them in CUSA than MAC.

Actually last year was their first year, its a two year process. But I think the Sun Belt would be better, its quickly gaining on the MAC...

Can't say I agree. The MAC consistently gets 3 teams in bowl games to the Sun Belt's one team. If you look at last year's Sagarin Rankings, the MAC was even above Conference USA, the conference that most MAC fans feel is a worthy rival. Considering they have a head-to-head bowl edge over CUSA (GMAC Bowl) I see why.

As for WKU, they are located just a couple of hours South of Cincinnati so they're actually closer to most of the MAC schools than the Sun Belt schools.

A couple of years ago there was talk that they would not join the MAC without Middle Tennessee coming too; a proposal the MAC turned down. Then the MAC brought in Temple for football only to make it a unbalanced 13-team conference. Now there are rumors that WKU joins for all sports in the MAC West and Temple for all sports in the MAC East.

Interesting proposal. Could be a smart move in the long run for the Hilltoppers, particularly in Basketball where they would dominate easily.
