81 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

81- Aron White... White is a 6'4", 228 lb. (R)Freshman TE from Rock Bridge HS in
Columbia, MO. He is one of 2 Dawgs on the roster from the Show Me State.

After a redshirt year and the transfer of NaDerris Ward to Oregon,
White is listed as 3rd on the depth chart.

coming out of high school in 2007, rivals ranked white as the number 1 TE in the country. he was also number 38 in the rivals100 and number 1 player in the state of missouri. he was a 4 star prospect.

80 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

80- Walter Hill--Hill is a 6'4", 214 lb. (R)Freshman WR from East Hall HS in Gainesville.

After a redshirt year in which he drew some rave reviews from
teammates for his athletic catches, he will start this fall 3rd on the
depth chart.

79 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

79- justin anderson...Anderson is a 6'5", 328 lb. (R)Freshman OL from Irwin Co. HS. He came
to Athens via Hargrave Military Academy after some academic trouble in
high school. He enrolled at UGA in January 2007.

He is currently listed as the starter at RG despite his lack of
in-game experience. Mark Richt has been quoted as saying that Justin
has as much natural ability as any OG he can remember coaching, and
that all it should take for him is repetition and experience.

"Bean" will be an important cog on the OL going forward and if healthy
should be on the field most of the time. Given Clint Boling's
situation, Anderson is even that much more valuable.

Rivals ranked anderson a 4 star OG coming out of HS. he was ranked 7th best guard in the country.

78 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

78- josh davis...Davis is a 6'6", 293 lb. (R)Sophomore OT from Jayess, MS. He is the
only Dawg on the 2008 roster from the Magnolia State.

After redshirting in 2006, he appeared in 7 games last season at LT.
He was moved to RG this Spring and due to Boling's pending suspension,
it looks like he will have every opportunity to see the field.

rivals ranked Davis a 3 star OT coming out of HS. he was ranked the 39th best tackle in the country.

77 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

77 trinton Sturdivant is a 6'5", 294 lb. Sophomore OT from Wadesboro, NC. He is
one of 7 Dawgs on the 2008 roster from the Tar Heel State.

He enrolled early last season and ended up starting at LT the entire
season. His efforts earned him All-Freshman SEC honors. He did a
great job protecting Stafford's blind side and was able to turn one of
2007's biggest question marks into a strength.

While I haven't seen Trinton on any big preseason lists, most Dawg
fans are aware of how important and good he is. He will remain a
vital cog on the OL and will likely be one of the leaders of that
group as a sophomore.

rivals had Sturdivant ranked as a 4 star OG. he was ranked 14th in the naton coming out of hs.

06-15-2008, 01:50 PM
76 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

76- ben harden...Harden is a 6'4", 310 lb. Freshman OL from Perry HS.

He originally committed to UGA on September 18th, 2006 as a senior in
HS but had to spend a year at Hargrave Military Academy before finally
getting to Athens.

Ben is currently listed as our 3rd-string center and will likely
redshirt in order to better learn the system and help build real depth
along the line for the first time in the Mark Richt era.

rivals ranked harden a 3 star OG. he was ranked 29th best guard in the nation.

75 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

75- Kiante Tripp....Tripp is a 6'6", 295 lb. (R)Sophomore OT from Westlake HS.

He signed with Georgia as a DE but after redshirting in 2006, he
switched to OT during last Spring and got on the field a decent bit
last year.

Kiante is slated to take over at RT for Chester Adams.

NOTE: Tripp switched from #64 to #75.

rivals ranked tripp the 9th best OT in the country. he was a 4 star prospect.

reese
06-17-2008, 04:06 PM
74- kevin perez...Perez is a 6'3", 274 lb. (R)Sophomore OL from Killian HS in Miami, FL.
He is one of 11 players on the 2008 roster from the Sunshine State.

After enrolling early and redshirting in 2006, he saw some limited
action in mop-up duty last season as a sub for Fernando Velasco.

"Kevin is a mystery to me as to where he is on the depth chart.
According to the official site, he ended Spring practice as the #2 C,
but according to some of the other sites he is farther down the depth
chart.

My educated guess is that the coaches want Ben Jones to take over at
C, allowing Clint Boling to remain at LG where he flourished as a
freshman. If that is the case, then look for Perez to battle Ben
Harden for the backup C spot."--poster from dawgrun

rivals ranked perez a 3 star OG and the number 21 guard in the nation.

75 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

75- Kiante Tripp....Tripp is a 6'6", 295 lb. (R)Sophomore OT from Westlake HS.

Tripp is at 295lb now? I think he came in at @275. He won't be as wide as Chester but he will be faster, stronger, and a much better athlete:thumpsup:.

06-18-2008, 03:22 PM
73 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

73- Chris Little....Little is a 6'6", 330 lb. (R)Freshman OL from Twiggs Co. HS.

He redshirted last season after a HS career that earned him U.S. Army
and USA Today All-American status.

Chris will be getting most of his work at RG, where he could compete
with Vance to get onto the 2-deep rotation.

rivals ranked little a 4 star OT coming out of high school. he was the 11th best guard in the nation.

72 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

72- Vince Vance..Vance is a 6'8", 320 lb. Junior OL from Bradwell Institute, via
Georgia Military College.

He appeared in 10 games
last year for Georgia.

According to the official site, Vince ended up as the #2 LT behind
Sturdivant after Spring practice, but the smart money is on him
remaining at Guard due to Boling's pending suspension. Depending on
what happens at the Center position, big VV could be starting at LG.
He's certainly got the size and the talent, so it'll be interesting to
follow him over the next couple years under Coach Searels

71 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

71- Cordy Glenn...Glenn is a 6'6", 315 lb. Freshman OL from Riverdale HS.

He comes in very highly thought of, ranked as a 4* prospect and as the
#15 and #16 OT in the country last year by Scout and Rivals,
respectively. He was also a member of the PrepStar All-America team.
He committed to UGA on November 18th of last year and chose Georgia
over offers from schools including Alabama, Florida, Virginia, and LSU.

67 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

67- Jonathan Owens...Owens is a 6'5", 295 lb. Freshman OL from Susan Moore HS in
Blountsville, AL. He is one of 2 Dawgs on the roster from the Yellow
Hammer state.

He committed to Georgia on June 8th, 2007 over schools including
Auburn and Georgia Tech. He was rated a 3* prospect at OG by both
Scout and Rivals.

Jonathan is a likely candidate to redshirt.

65 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

65- Jeff Henson..Henson is a 6'3", 258 lb. Senior LS from West Hall HS.

He is the latest in a long and storied line of walk-on special team
players at UGA to be rewarded with a scholarship. He received his
last August after playing as a walk-on in 2006. Midway through last
season his duties moved to solely snapping on punts.

This is what Coach Richt had to say after giving Jeff a scholarship:
"It’s fun to give a guy a scholarship who came in with no promise of
anything. He did a good job and earned it and now you get to reward
him with that, that’s fun to do as a coach. I’m happy for Jeff."

61 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

61- BEN JONES...Jones is a 6'3", 300 lb. Freshman OL from Centreville, AL. He is one
of 2 scholarship players from the Yellow Hammer State.

He committed to Georgia on June 20, 2007 over schools including
Alabama and Auburn. He was rated the nation's #5 and #7 C prospect by
Scout.com and Rivals.com, respectively. He enrolled at UGA in January
and was able to get invaluable practice experience in the Spring and
was named the most-improved OL for his efforts.

Ben has received a lot of positive attention for his hard-nosed work
ethic and intensity and will almost certainly play a lot as a true
freshman this season. He is currently listed as the #2 C behind Chris
Davis but with Boling's pending suspension he may start from day 1 as
the staff tries to get the 5 best OL on the field.

60 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

60- Clint Boling.....Boling is a 6'5", 290 lb. Sophomore OL from Chattahoochee HS in
Alpharetta.

He was somewhat unheralded coming into last season as a true freshman
but ended up starting 10 games at RG and 1 at RT. He is incredibly
athletic and versatile and could usually be seen about 5 yards
downfield plowing for the running backs. Boling was named to several
Freshman All-America teams and paired with Sturdivant he looks at this
point like a 4-year starter.

Clint is slated to be the starter at LG but due to some off-field
antics he is awaiting a probable suspension from Coach Richt. Based
on CMR's history of handling these type of situations, Boling will
probably be back on the field when the Dawgs travel to South Carolina.

58 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

58- Demarcus Dobbs...Dobbs is a 6'2", 262 lb. (R)Sophomore DE from Calvary Baptist HS in
Savannah.

After redshirting in 2006, he played in every game last year for the
Dawgs. He was used mostly on special teams but also saw action on the
DL in a few games and made his first tackle vs. Hawaii in the sUGAr Bowl.

Demarcus is listed as the 2nd string 'buck end' behind Roderick
Battle. He got 3 tackles in the G-Day game and earned the Coffee
County Hustle Award for his efforts this spring. He's bigger than
most Richt/Fabris-era DE's so I imagine he'll remain at buck, but with
Lomax's pending suspension to open the season he may challenge Jarius
Wynn for early P.T. vs. Georgia Southern.

56 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

56- geno atkins...Atkins is a 6'2", 285 lb. Junior DT from Pembroke Pines, FL. He is
one of 11 Dawgs from the Sunshine State.

He enrolled early and played in 11 games in 2006, mostly in a backup
role. He then came on strong last year and made 7 starts. He led the
team in TFL and solidified himself as a starter for 2008. He had
monster games against Vanderbilt and Kentucky and started causing
teams to stop double-teaming fellow DT Jeff Owens. Geno is on several preseason All-American lists and was also named to
the 2008 Outland Trophy and Bronco Nagurski watch lists.

55 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

55- Jeremy Lomax...Lomax is a 6'4", 245 lb. (R)Senior DE from Lovejoy HS in Jonesboro.

After showing some flashes in his sophomore year, he came on strong in
a backup role next season. He ended the season with 16 tackles 4.5 sacks.

Jeremy will be starting at rush end this season and is part of a core
group of seniors up front on defense that will be counted on as much
for his leadership as his play. With the other 3 DL spots being held
down by established talent, Lomax will have the opportunity to flourish.

After enrolling early and redshirting last season, he is listed as the
2nd string LG.

of OL that will have a lot do with Georgia's level of success the next

32 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

32 - Brian Mimbs - Mimbs is a 5'11" 205lb Senior Punter from Dublin, GA.

After redshirting his freshman year, and providing depth during his sophomore year, Mimbs came on to be an invaluable weapon for the Dawgs late in the 2006 season. It was Mimbs who kicked the unorthodox onside kick vs. VA Tech in the Chick-fil-A bowl. In the 2007 season, Mimbs showed just how much power he has, kicking the 2nd longest punt in the SEC at 66 yards, finishing the season with 57 punts, averaging 42.3 yards, and finishing 3rd in the SEC in punts.

Special teams play can never be underrated, and having a Senior punter like Mimbs will no doubt at some point during the season be crucial to the Dawgs.

Banks, a graduate of Houston County High, shined in his AAAAA career, earning a spot on the first team All-State as a DB, and ranked by the AJC as the best safety in the state of Georgia, and #11 safety in the nation by Rivals.

Banks redshirted in 2006, and appeared in 12 games in 2007, recording 9 tackles, 2 for losses. At the conclusion of spring drills, Banks was listed #2 on the depth chart at strong safety.

26 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

26 - FLK Tony Wilson, 5'11" 198lbs, Redshirt sophomore.

Wilson is another one of Georgia's extremely talented young receivers out of Daytona, FL (take that gators) who could do great things. Rated a five star athlete by both Rivals and Scout, Wilson was rated the #14 athlete in the country by scout, and the #14 and #17 receiver in the national by rivals and scout. Tony was an incredible athlete in high school, starting 3 years on both offense AND defense. He also captured the Florida state track championship as a Junior, and started at guard on the baseketball team.

Tony redshirted his freshman year in 06, and played in 12 games, starting in 2, in 2007, totaling 14 catches for 124 yards.

He was named most improved player at the conclusion of Spring practice.

Everyone is talking about AJ Green, but it could be Tony Wilson that makes a name for himself this season.

24- TB Knowshon Moreno, 5'11" 207lbs, Redshirt sophomore

Well, not much we can say about this guy that you all didn't know already. The phenom from New Jersey, Knowshon became the first Georgia freshman since Herschel Walker to rush for 1300 yards, appearing in 13 games, starting 6. The accolades are endless. First team All-American, SEC freshman of the year, on and on. He is considered a front-runner for the Heisman trophy this coming season, and will be one of Georgia's brightest hopes to make it to Miami in January.

23 DAYS TO KICKOFF

23 - WC Prince Miller, 5'8" 190lbs, Junior

Prince Miller, a top 20 rated cornerback coming out of high school, made his mark quickly in his freshman year in 06, appearing in every game for the Dawgs and being named special teams newcomer of the year. In his sophomore year, Miller appeared in 13 games, starting in 8, and made his presence felt, and got his first career INT against Hawaii, picking off Colt Brennan. He had 3 games last year in which he recorded 4 tackles each.

He and fellow Junior Bryan Evans will battle it out for the #1 spot in the depth chart at weak corner.

Samuel is one of our most highly touted recruits coming into the 08 season as a Freshman. One of the highest rated players in Georgia's class, Samuel was rated the #4 RB in the nation by Scout, the best inside runner by Rivals, the top player in the state of Georgia.... get the picture? Samuel is a bruiser, bigger than any of our other tailbacks, an imposing 6'2", 215 lbs. He graduated early and enrolled at Georgia in the spring, and worked with the team through spring drills. They say that Knowshon is the guy who has all the flashy cuts and moves, while Samuel is the guy who just runs over people.

Coach Richt has said #2 in the depth chart was still available. My guess is that its Richard Samuel giving Caleb King a run for his money.

14 - QB Joe Cox, 6'1" 208lb Junior

Joe Cox reminds me of Otto, the bulldog that stepped in when Uga IV died and Uga V had not been born yet. Much like Otto, Cox is the guy that can come off the bench and help the team when we're in between leaders. Cox did a great job of playing off the bench in 2006 when Joe T. went down, and Stafford struggled early. Cox won the Colorado game for us in 2006 when he came off the bench in the 2nd half to go 10 for 13 with 154 yards and 2 TD's that led us to victory. He is without a doubt the most solid backup QB in the SEC right now, and could be starting at any other SEC school with the exception of Florida. We are extremely fortunate to have him at #2 in the depth chart right now. If, heaven forbid, anything were to happen to Stafford during the season, Cox could get the job done.

We are extremely fortunate to have him at #2 in the depth chart right now. If, heaven forbid, anything were to happen to Stafford during the season, Cox could get the job done.

Is that for real? If so, thats awesome, and just one more reason I like Joe Cox.

True story. For some reason I thought his quote was "If we cant win this game we dont deserve to wear "G's" on our helmet. But either way, it was a still a great motivation. That was an incredible comeback. One of the highlights...if not hte best highlight of 2006.

11 DAYS TO KICKOFF

11 - SC Ramarcus Brown, 5'11" 170lb Sr.

Ramarcus played in 12 games in 2006, starting in 9 and recording 39 tackles, however was passed up on the depth chart last year by Asher Allen. He is a solid corner and provides very valuable depth to us at the position. He is currently 2nd on the depth chart at Strong Corner.

You're right, that's what he said. I knew it was something like that.

I'm not sure he will return. Hasn't he had two alcohol-related arrests?

9 DAYS TO KICKOFF

9 - FS Reshad Jones, 6'2" 203lb. RFr.

Jones, who redshirted in 2006, appeared in 13 games in 07, starting in 2, and looked promising. He was named the team's most improved defensive back at the conclusion of spring practice. He was also named 3rd team pre-season All-SEC by Phil Steele.

8 DAYS TO KICKOFF

8 - WR A.J. Green, 6'4" 190lb Fr.

What can you not say about this guy? We've been talking about him for months. The #2 WR in the nation coming out of High School, word out of camp has been that Green has lived up to the hype. MoMass has taken this guy under his wing and tutored him, trying to bring him up to speed on the offense as quickly as possible. Richt has said that Green will see the field. Green caught a TD pass in the final scrimmage on Thursday. The anticipation to see this kid play keeps growing... and we're a mere 8 days from seeing what he's got.

7 DAYS TO KICKOFF (My god.... SEVEN DAYS!!!)

7 - The best QB in college football (as declared by Kirk Herbstreit, Troy Aikman, and others), our bright shining hope, the Dawg from Texas... standing at 6 feet 3 inches, and weighing in at (well, old roster stats say 237, but from what I've seen I'd bet he is a lean 215 right now)... jr. Matthew Stafford.

A lot of talk has surrounded Stafford during this off-season. Talk about being a top NFL draft pick in 09, but also talk about him not living up to the hype. Matthew has been working to silence everyone. He has set very lofty personal goals for himself. He says he is in the mindset that he wants to be perfect, and if he's not perfect, he's disappointed. It's the same mindset that he developed in High School right before he had his breakout year that made him one of the most highly recruited QB's in college FB. All of the team has stated during pre-season practice that Stafford has really become the leader of the team, that he has progressed into an amazing QB. The receivers say he makes passes in practice that they don't know how he makes. All the offseason talk makes us believe this will be the year Stafford lights up the secondary. We only have 7 more days till we begin to find out.

6 DAYS TO KICKOFF

6 - QB Logan Gray, 6'2" 180lb RFr.

Highly recruited Missouri product Logan Gray chose Georgia over many high caliber Big 10 and Big 12 programs. The kid has got wheels and an arm to go with it. Rated as the #10 overall QB prospect in his class, Gray has been trying to get on the field at Georgia anyway possible. In practice, he has been returning punts. You read right... returning punts. There is a chance he could be doing that in games as well. Also, rumor has it there could be some special plays in the playbook designed for Gray to run in a D.J. Shockley type role. We'll have to wait and see.

5 DAYS TO KICKOFF

5 - SS CJ Byrd, 6'2" 193lb Sr.

Byrd has appeared in every game since his true freshman year, last year starting 13 games, recording 44 tackles and 1 INT. He is slotted to start at SS this season.

4 DAYS TO KICKOFF

4 - RB Caleb King, 5'11" 212lb RFr.

The very highly acclaimed King, who was ranked the #8 RB in the country, and #1 player in Georgia, will make his debut on the field this season, backing up Knowshon Moreno. Many have said King will be the next Reggie Bush. Apparently he's been good enough in practice that coach Bobo has developed plays in which he gets Moreno AND King on the field at the same time. If King lives up to his billing, there could be some real fireworks out of the UGA backfield this season.

3 DAYS, 11 HOURS, 15 MINUTES TILL KICKOFF (We're close enough to start getting more specific :D)

3 - WC Bryan Evans, 5'11" 188lb Jr.

After making 4 starts in 06 and 2 starts in 07', Evans has won the starting job at weak corner, beating out Prince Miller for the top spot. Although according to coach Richt, the depth chart at that position doesn't mean a lot, because they will both be playing. Apparently the coaches plan on subbing in a lot. Which would likely be a good idea... we have the talent and depth to get fresh legs in there. Fresh legs = more speed = wins.

2 DAYS TO KICKOFF

2- SC Asher Allen, 5'10 198lb Jr.

Probably the best player in our secondary. Started 10 games last year, made 55 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT and 4 pass break-ups. He also made 27 kickoff returns for 659 yards, which is 10 yards short of the Georgia single-season record. He should be huge for us this year.

I keep waiting for Asher to bust out a big TD run on a kickoff, but just hasnt happened yet. He had some nice returns against UF last year, hopefully he can pick up his speed by half a step and do some serious damage.

1 DAY TO KICKOFF (AHHHHH!!!!!!)

1- WR Mohamed Massaquoi, 6'2" 198lb Sr.

This year MoMass looks to be the leader of our wide receiving corps, and the coaches say he has really stepped into that role. He has been a mentor and a teacher for our young guys, namely A.J. Green who has pretty much become his protege, and Tavarres King. Mass also knows it is up to him to be guy this year. Stafford should have several new targets to throw to this year, but look for Massaquoi to step up in a big way this season.
