For me, it would have to be the '05 Bama/Fla game.

The loudest sustained noised was the 2001 Auburn vs. Florida. The Gators came to Jordan-Hare ranked #1 and were favored by 20+ points. In short, they were supposed to destroy us. We won with a last minute Duval field goal. During the entire game the noise level never went down. It was deafening from start to finish.

Another notable game was the Auburn vs. LSU game in 1994. They pretty well handled us for three quarters but we won the game with three(?) INT's returned for touchdowns in the 4th. quarter. That 4th. quarter was so loud you could not hear the person next to you.

I also remember that the opening play 70 or 80 yard touchdown run for Carnell Williams in the 2003 Iron Bowl brought fourth a frenzy that was unreal.

More recently, the last Kansas St. drive of the opener last year (where we forced the fumble and returned it for the TD) was pretty electric as their left OT jumped offside twice I believe. Also, I honestly can't remember exactly how loud it was, but I do remember the energy in the stadium at the Iron Bowl this past year was just incredible.

Admittedly though, I haven't been to many games, so this could be wayyyyyy off base (and probably is).

I remember watching that game with my best friend (Bama Fan). If your talking about the play I'm thinking of, he somehow got so excited that wile yelling, he blew beer from his nose!

All games at the Swamp are freakin' loud...don't even think about bringing in a walk-man to listen to Mick Hubert because you won't be able to hear him unless there's a TV TO or it's half-time. The loudest game I've ever attended...and I've posted this before...'97. For the first time in 7 straight seasons, UF was out of the SEC Championship race...f$u came to town, ranked #1...only having to beat the 2-loss Gators to advance to the National Title game. The entire game we were standing...screaming. Spurrier shocked the criminoles by alternating Doug Johnson and Noah Brindise every play. f$u scored with a couple of minutes left to go ahead 29-25. UF got the ball back, and on the first or second play from scrimmage, Johnson hit Quezzie Green for a 67 yd gain to the f$u 12 yd line...Fred Taylor ran it to the 1 on the next play...then, scored on the next play with a little more than a minute to play. Great freakin' game!!!

After leaving any game at the Swamp, especially a rivalry/SEC game, my ears are usually ringing...but after that game...after leaving, I was nauseated, dizzy and my ear was "popping". Later found that I had a ruptured tympanic membrane (ear drum).

I've been nearly everywhere in the SEC, and the loudest sustained noise is at The Swamp. The loudest moment in a stadium I've ever experienced was when Rod Trafford caught his only career pass. It was a touchdown to cap an amazing 4th quarter comeback against Alabama in 2001. Carolina won 37-36 in a game where Alabama quarterback Tyler Watts ran for like 170 yards and completed 22-25. Carolina has a history of making decent quarterbacks look like Heisman candidates. The only difference is that this time they allowed someone to walk all over them and find a way to win. That doesn't happen here very often. The noise at that one moment was the release of about 100 years of frustration, stemming from 4th quarter collapse after 4th quarter collapse. In that moment, we had arrived. When he caught that pass, everyone knew we were going places.

Then Lou decided to stay 3 more years.

When he threw that pass me, my dad, and one of his friends could be seen hugging and jumping up and down screaming.
That was one of the best days I've ever had at a football game. The BBQ tasted damn good that day too!

I wasn't at the 05 Florida game, unfortunately. I wish I was.

As for the loudest game, I'm not sure, but the loudest single moment of a game I've witnessed was when Javier Arenas returned the punt for a TD against LSU last season at BDS. I thought the place was gonna collapse. It was sheer pandemonium.

Easily the 07' Blackout vs. Auburn at Sanford. Previously, the loudest game I'd ever attended was the 05' game at Sanford vs. Auburn. But last year was just special. The noise when the Dawgs ran out on the field in black was just deafening. And that level kept up for most of the game. I'm telling you I'll bet that Auburn can tell you they haven't been in a more difficult place to play in a long time.

Yeah, that was a crazy game. It was loud and intense, with our clash with the GBI and Athens-Clarke County not withstanding. You can't kick someone out of a game for expressing his opinion, at least not without confrontation. Freedom of speech baby. That's all I have to say about that.

October 13, 1990... the 5th ranked Vols were coming off a hard-fought 26-26 tie at the hands of Auburn in Jordan Hare. The 9th ranked Gators with their young, cocky new coach (SOS) were looking to gain some respectability with a big SEC road win. The Vols returned the opening Kickoff of the second half and went on to blow out the Gators 45-3. Neyland was absolutely rocking the entire second half. The entire stadium did the Gatorchomp the entire 4th quarter. Easily one of the most electric atmospheres I have ever been in!!

I'm going to go back a few years to when I was a student at the University of South Carolina. I couldn't remember the exact year (although I did remember the score), so I checked and it was 1979. We were playing Clemson and we held on to win 13-9. Clemson had the ball near the end of the game trying to score a TD for the win. A FG would do no good since it was 13-9. If I remember correctly, I believe Clemson had the ball around the 10-15 yard line. When they were unsuccessful at getting the ball in the end zone, the stadium erupted, and you can imagine the noise level where most of us students were at. Unfortunately, back then wins against Clemson were few and far between (as they still seem to be now), so this was a special win. I have always remembered that score for some reason.

Wile this doesn't rank anywhere in the same category as any of the even most humble SEC games I've attended, I must tell the story of the Arizona vs. Oregon game I attended last year. I happened to be in Tucson on business the week of the game so me and one of the guys on the trip with me decided to go check it out. Oregon was ranked somewhere in the top 5 or 3 so we figured it would be a great game to take in.

The first thing that struck me when we walked to the stadium (our hotel was two blocks from the campus) was the complete lack of RV's & campers. In fact we didn't see the first tailgater! This was a Thursday night nationally televised by ESPN PAC-10 game featuring one of the top ranked teams in the nation. When we went in to the stadium, we noticed that it was nowhere near a sell out even though there were only something like 50,000 or so seats to start with. It only got more bizarre from that point. When they lined up for the opening kick off, I was wondering what everyone would stand up and yell (like we yell war eagle, roll tide, or whatever). Well, they did stand up, but nobody said anything. Instead they simply held their car keys up and rattled them like you would in front of an infant to amuse them! I swear that is all they did. As the game progressed I noticed most people really were not all that interested even though it was a good game. The fact I was wearing an Auburn shirt and my buddy a Bama shirt seemed more interesting to many than the game itself. Some of the students did storm the field after Arizona upset Oregon, but then to cap off a strange night, everyone went home! We didn't see the first post game party anywhere. As we walked across the huge campus back to the hotel, I really began to appreciate the special thing we have here in the south with SEC football.

 ACC kicked you out??

The GBI started it, then ACC got involved. A GBI officer with a Napolean complex pushed my roomate through a crowd and took him to ACC to kick him out b/c he said 'you suck' as the AU coaches and GBI we running by at the half.

I decided to get kicked out with him, so me and his brother terrorised them all the way out of the game. (yelling about cops power tripping, bouncing around them, screaming go dawgs) It turned into a big conflict at the gate. It ended with his brother (who's a staff sgt. in the marine corp) pointing his finger and yelling at them that their badges didn't make them right (while they were threatening to take him to jail). No one went to jail, we watched the second half with some tailgaters.

'07 UF @ LSU. Third quarter. An announcement came out that USC (yes thats THE USC) lost to STANFORD, and we would take the #1 spot if we could clinch the game at hand. Words can't describe it. It was something that you had to be there for.

'07 AU @ LSU. After the Byrd catch to take the lead with 1 second on the clock. I remember the student section went crazy. I hugged about 30 people I did not/ still don't know.

These two games were the loudest games I (a freshman) have been to. I don't have much to compare these two moments to; but if anything can get crazier than those two, I'm in for some good times.

Tennessee at Arkansas in 06. Gameday shows up, and from the get go, things look promising for the Hogs. Darren McFadden and Marcus Monk tore the Vols up all night. In fact, until the last drive, when Tennessee scored on Arkansas 3rd string defense, Arkansas led Tennessee in every statistical category. It was a great night to be a hog fan and DWR was loudest it has ever been. I hope to see many more games like that one in the near future. It was an extremely intense atmosphere.

That was a loud game, but I don't think I fully understood how loud it was. Where the opposing band sits is right at the end of the stadium; where it opens up. From there, it wasn't too loud, but I can tell that it was rediculous in the middle.

I have to say that the loudest I can remember was Death Valley UT/LSU right after Katrina. That place was not only loud for LSU...It was loud for Louisiana.

I really hope that Petrino does well enough as Arkansas' head coach that they have to close in that end.... if they did, that place would be ear-blowing.

On another note, though, that was the COLDEST game I've ever been to. That place was freezing. We all had to scoot together as much as possible to keep body heat.

For the record, our uniforms enhance the weather. If it's 85°, it feels like it's 105°. If it's 50°, it feels like it's 30°. I don't know how in the hell that works, but it does. And it blows.

Obviously any SEC or Clemson game is really loud at Williams-Brice, but the one that still stands out in my mind is when we beat Florida in '05. There have been individual moments just as loud but the sustained noise level in the 4th quarter was amazing. To see everyone excited and boisterous instead of the typical 75% was almost as much fun to witness as the victory itself. The fact it was a 12:30pm start time made it that much more memorable.

I live off of Rosewood about 2 miles from the stadium. I couldn't make that game since I really needed to study at least a little bit that night. But one of my neighbors was projecting the game on the side of his backyard shed, and I was sitting on my porch watching it (I don't have cable) and studying. The crowd noise was ruining that opportunity though, because his feed was delayed. The Cocks would be at the line of scrimmage, and I'd hear a huge roar from the crowd. I would know the outcome of every play before it showed up on the screen.

It was mind-blowing how loud the crowd was from even that far away though, so I have to imagine it was at least as loud as the '05 Florida game I mentioned.

Another game that was really loud was Arkansas - South Carolina in 07.... that game was exhausting. SO much scoring and so much McFadden and Jones. Corey Boyd is a good back but I think that night people really saw just how much better McFadden and Jones were than the rest of the country.
