The NBA and the network is loving this set up. You have all the history between the teams, mega stars, and two huge viewing audiences. I think it will be a close one, but I think I am going with Boston in 7 as I think they have the home court advantage.

I favor the Lakers winning it in six or seven.....but I hope the Celts win in say...FOUR!!!!

I hate the Lakers!

Yea I can't see the Lakers losing this one, especially the way they're playing lately. Kobe will be guarding Rondo, and he won't guard him close at all, but will rather save his energy for the offensive end. Their whole team is just clicking right now, so I see them winning it in 5 or 6.

No way Kobe will be matched against Rondo. I hope that is the case thou as that will allow Pierce or Ray Allen to go nuts.

RTR I agree. Kobe on Pierce in crunch time for sure.

I'm not sure that that's what will happen, but that's just what I would do. I would then put Fisher on Allen and then Vujacic on Pierce. That's just how I would do it. Put faith in Fisher to relatively slow down Allen.

Who plays Rondo then? Pargo? They don't play Fisher and Pargo at the same time usually.

Maybe Radmonovich or Vujacic on Allen. I will be interesting to see how they match up.

Can Perkins guard Gasol or Odom? Can anyone guard KG?

No Celtic will have to guard Odom too much. In this series Odom will disappear faster than a doughnut on Rosie O'Donnell's plate.

That is funny stuff!!! Why do you think that about Odom though?

Odom is a career 3rd wheel who thrives when there is little or no pressure on him. Nice player when you are up by 15 but usually vanishes when the game is tight.

I'm with CNation, I love basketball and keep up with the NBA somewhat but tend to lean more to the college side. But any fan of the game of bball has got the love this. I have no certain favorite in the NBA but my money's on we'll see a game 7 in this one.

Haha you're forgetting about the most explosive player on the court. Kobe on Rondo.

And I don't think Perkins can guard Odom, and I think that's who they'll put him on. Like Para said though, you traditionally don't have to be a talented defender to guard Odom in big game scenarios. And I like the KG vs. Gasol matchup. Both move well to be in the 7' range. I think that is the most interesting matchup of the series.

Oh yeah. I still think it will be Kobe on Paul when it matters. I do not think anyone else can guard him on his jumpshots or drives to the lanes.

Odom has sucked when he was the guy inside but he has played much better because Gasol has made it easier on him. Gasol did the dirty work against the Spurs. He is the difference in that team this year.imo

Excellent game for the Celtics last night! The upcoming series with the notoriously explosive Lakers is going to be electrifying. The crowd will be maniacal, and the court will be fast. It is going to be great for the NBA and a possibly record setting series for TV ratings! Everybody wins!

I say it will go seven also but in the end, the difference will be Kobeyashi.

Pargo is on New Orleans. You must be thinking of Farmar. Farmar and Vujacic are not starters. It will be Kobe on Rondo, Fisher on Allen, Radmonovic on Pierce, Odom on Garnett, and Gasol on Perkins. If this is how LA matches up the Pierce should have a big series. I am not sure who will guard Kobe. I imagine they will probably switch off with Rondo, Allen, and may be even Pierce.

It was better in '83 when Dr. J., Moses, Bobby Jones, Toney, Cheeks. Took out a broom on the Lakers. haha

That was the fo, fo, fo. That Moses predicted for their playoff run. It turned out to be fo, five, fo due to the one loss to the Bucks.

Did I mention I hate the Lakers. Go KG!

Rondo has the quickness and speed and defensive skill set to stick w/Kobe. Rondo's D on the Pistons is a big reason we're in the Finals. I'm just saying, don't expect Kobe to drop 50 anytime soon.

Is everyone REALLY getting nostalgic over this series?? Don't mean to poo-poo it down, but this series just isn't exciting me at all. Aside from the cities they're hailing from, there's no comparisons AT ALL to the historic showdowns between these two franchises. Hell, if either team had even "grown together" that might be compelling. But Boston "bought" their team in the off-season and Jerry West and the Grizzlies handed the keys to the Western Conference crown to the Kobes.... I mean Lakers. Don't get me wrong... both teams are good, but this is hardly "can't miss tv".

That said, Lakers in Five!! Yuck!! :brick::thumbsdow

I don't know about that vol. I think the ratings increase will be huge compared with other NBA finals of the past few years.

Pro NBA does not excite me much in general, but this series will be fun to watch. Not can't miss TV, but it will kill a couple more nights while we wait for SEC football.

Well, last year was the Spurs and the Cavs... this year's numbers are guaranteed to blow those out of the water.

The match-up will be a good one and the series itself should be good! Just doesn't "feel" like the old Lakers-Celtics rivalry...thats all!!

Don't ruin it for me Vol...lol. I've been waiting a looooong time to see the Celtics in the Finals. Hell....the last time any of my teams was in the "Finals" of anything was UK's 98 title team.....if we go pro sports.....it'd be the Reds 1990 World Series Champions team. I'm pretty damn excited to have one of my teams playing for a title.

Didn't expect what happened last night. The Celtics were ready for them and very determined and serious about taking the first game. I got bored and turned it off at the half, but I'll be ready again for the next one.

Great Game by the Celtics last night. The big three came up huge and PJ Brown added some big minutes from the bench. BTW, I told you all that Kobe would not be on Rhondo or vice- versa.

Gasol is out for the rest of the series after that prison rape that KG gave him. Pierce adds another moment of legendary Boston lore into the books with his return form injury. Celtics in 6.

Basketball is my least favorite of the major 4 sports, and I freely admit I'm a bandwagon Celtics fan (and by that I mean for the most part I only pay attention to the NBA when the Celtics are good). But it has been really exciting having my favorite player (Garnett) join the squad this year.

Baseball is my sport though, and watching the Sox games this week on mlbtv has been really amusing. Whenever there's a lull in the game the crowd has started a "BEAT LA!!" chant.

It is a great shame to see things like this surface in any game. It ruins everything sports is supposed to represent.
