Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get
out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of
the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'
'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of L ife, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.''If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Thats it, I am officialy moving to Australia. I have been thinking this for a while. They love motorsports, the landscape and wildlife is awesome, they have politicians with balls, and they speak english.

I will miss SEC football, but I will just replace that with the local Rugby team and the Australian V8 supercars!!

We have nobody but ourselves to blame. Somewhere over the last 40 years or so two very wrong ideas crept into our national conscious. The first is that everyone shares our rights even when they are not citizens of our great republic. Second is that everyone has the right to not be offended in any way so long as you are not white, male, or Christian. If you fall into any of these three categories it's open season on you.

The original piece made enough great points without someone coming along and trying to inject God into the equation. He even said in his exchange with other members of parliament that Australia was founded on Democracy..not Christian values like the article insists. He also said that if someone wants to live somewhere where there is Sharia law or a theocratic state there are other countries where they would be more comfortable. Kind of a far cry from the other claim that he said "it should be displayed on the walls of the schools that this country was founded by Christians."

Dont get me wrong I think the article made a lot of great points but one of my biggest pet peeves is when people put words in other peoples mouths to make that person say what they wanna say.

Even the Russians have a flat tax and they're communists! (Wait for it) The USA has propagandized our youth in college and now in the public school system to be the best Marxist population on earth. Several ignorant posters on SECTalk are parroting the Marxist principles they've "learned." It's disgusting. They are the very ones propping up another Marxist...anyone running on the Democrat ticket. The problem is, they don't know enough about history to even know what they're spewing. Some pathetic professor has convinced them (and they got a good grade for following the line) that America sucks. I've found that liberals are too stupid to know that their arguments are seriously flawed. I've given up continuing a thread of discussion with most of them because it's always the same. They are the brain-dead robots of our time. Or as Karl Marx described them, "useful idiots."

Nice post Geaux. I'd rep you but I've got to "spread it around."

The only reason things are that way now..Is 40 or 50 years ago white, male, Christian were the people who were offending people who were different. Now the tide has changed to some degree. I'm not saying it's right, but everyone has their tolerance level on this issue and i guess thats just the way things are now...I don't see it changing anytime soon.

The articles alright. I just don't think we should completely cut off or tell people who are different from us to get out of the country. That just starts more negative views and stereotypes. Theirs nothing wrong with the Muslim faith y'all, I think everyone has the right when they come to this country to express their faith and their beliefs. It's that their are radical Muslims out their who don't share the same views as the rest of the Muslim faith. Just like their are radical Christians who express their very extreme beliefs.

and let's not split hairs about this: he's talking about non-white immigrants. Australia has loads of people from Croatia, Greece, and Italy, but I didn't see them mentioned by name in this quote.

Dude have some respect...Australia was theirs before European settlers came and took the land from them. It's not like the aborigines were harming anyone or invading other countries land. They were just living on the land that they were born on.Just because European settles came and established towns and a government doesn't make it better then the Aborigines life style.

We've all been taught this as children. Just because someone else has something you like or want..doesn't mean you just go take it from them and call it your own.

Well thats just great for you kindergarten class, little Emilio, but this is the World and this is how it works. You progress and adapt, or you are extinguished and replaced by a more modern culture. It has been the cycle of this earth for centuries.

And yes, the lifestyle that the Europeans brought to Australia IS better than the Aborigine lifestyle. If you don't think thats true, you're ignorant.

No your the ignorant one dude. It wasn't like the European settlers didn't have a home or were sent to exile. And their are still cultures that are considered "old fashion" or out dated that still live around the world and people aren't trying to take over them.

I also don't think this is a "kindergarten class" or whatever you said earlier. But i think it's respect for your fellow man and his way of life. Just because his customs or ideas are different from yours doesn't mean you can just take over and tell him to leave his land or change his ways.

What gains did the Europeans get out of taking over Australia in the beginning ..nothing...they just turned it in a large island prison and brought infectious disease with them from Europe.

Dude your completely missing the point. I understand that this has been the cycle of how things have worked on earth and that when a less powerful country or culture meets another that is more advanced then itself, most likely the more advanced country will take over. But in this case it doesn't make it right.

Also i found it kind of disrespectful for you to completely right off the Aborigine lifestyle and say "oh it's ok that the European settlers came and got rid of them, they weren't doing anything to advanced themselves" ....Dude their people have alittle respect.

But whatever it's really not something to argue about.

Thats because they arent trying to set up their own law outside of the Australian law. If there were a large number of Raelian immigrants from France demanding that they be allowed to clone themselves do you think they should be able to just because its part of their religion? Muslims are the ones trying to set up their own laws so they're the ones he addressed...but he also said that anyone who wants to live in a theocratic state wont find it in Australia. That takes care of any religion, country of origin, and race right there.
