Gives you a little different perspective on Gundy's rant. Excellent story (if it's right.)

ESPN - Reid: Gundy's rant "basically ended my life" - College Football (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3341578)

Interesting read, thanks FanninFan.

I always thought Bobby Reid was a pretty good QB. He certainly didn't put up gaudy numbers against Alabama in the 06 Independence Bowl, but he made the plays that counted.

This is nothing but the continued war against Gundy by the media. Gundy got the better of the media, and this is simply a character assassination. Frankly, I'm pissed that ESPN would publish an article like this, but I've grown used to it. They STILL can't stand the fact that the majority of Americans applauded Gundy for what he did, and they are still trying to win a fight they lost a long time ago.

Bobby Reid could be a good QB. The spread offense was just not for him. Under Miles, he would have done very well due to the style of offense he runs. As much as it pains me to say that.

I believe Gundy was genuinely concerned. I think the Reid's just had some hard feelings about the whole playing time issue and made it out like Gundy was out to get Reid.

Now that said, Gundy is known for not hesitating to do what it takes to win. Not saying he cheats, but his players are pawns, nothing more.

Another reason why Gundy will remain at OSU for awhile. Because he is just like Boone Pickens in that regard.

I agree with this 100%. Like I said, I think Gundy was genuinely sticking up for his player. No coach is going to risk that much bad press to "stage" something to keep his backup QB.

There was an awesome article done by someone on ESPN(wish I had bookmarked it now) where he talked about the media's misunderstanding of where America is in regards to respect for the media. In other words, he said, the media defended Carlson because she was a member of that group and not because she was necessarily right. And he goes on to say, when America speaks out and supports someone like this, the media needs to pay attention.

You're exactly right. And Reid bad mouthing him is just because he's sore over losing his starting job. Gundy is a football coach, and his job is to win. As such, he will field whichever QB he believes gives them the best chance to win. Bobby Reid sounds like he doesn't appreciate how his coach took up for him. I'm very skeptical as to the validity of the source from which ESPN got this information, though. It appears that they "heard" this from a college co-ed. If thats the case, ESPN has sunk to an all-time low on journalistic integrity.

Bingo, D^3 and SoonerManiac! I got the sense that it was the media backing up the media throughout the article.

Seems to me that both of those quarterbacks were playing good, not great, and neither was standing out over the other. I wonder what the other kid would have done if he was benched. Reid obviously couldn't handle it.

Robinson is much better in that offense than Reid is. Trust me, I watched them almost weekly and you can see a difference. I go to OSU's spring game every year as well and said to my brother(OSU fan) that Robinson was better than Reid.
