Saw this and thought it was worth sharing.

I knew I should have stayed with coaching PeeWee football after that 10-0 season. Who knows where I'd be today. I'd say the Bama assistant coaches are coaching with a big smile on their faces this spring, not to mention the smile their wives must be flashing! Saban always takes good care of his assistants.

Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Assistant football coaches at the University of Alabama have received pay increases ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. UA Trustees approved the new salaries Thursday for members of Nick Saban's staff. The $50,000 raise was awarded to Kirby Smart, who was promoted from secondary coach to defensive coordinator. Trustees also OK'd a three-year contract, with a $325,000 salary, for Jim McElwain as offensive coordinator. Newly hired Bobby Williams, the tight ends and special teams coach, will be paid $290,000. Crimson Tide assistants will be among the highest-paid in the Southeastern Conference. The Associated Press

Before anybody calls it to my attention, yes I know I accidently put this thread in the Georgia Sports. Humble apologies to both Bulldawg and Tide fans. Sleeping on the posting.

I was looking at this post going "what the hell" I fully expected to see something about pay compared to the Georgia coaches or something.

Can't I keep this? I thought Saban ran off every assistant...guess I'm wrong.

Man, I'm trying to save myself on this thread. Here's Georgia's assistant coaches salaries which you can now compare to Bama's assistant coaches. How's that?

Staff reaps benefits of Richt's raise (http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/030808/football_2008030800194.shtml)

Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez has become the first Bulldogs football assistant coach to top $300,000 in annual total compensation, but that figure still trails several of his colleagues in the SEC. Martinez and the other Georgia assistant coaches have each received 7 percent raises, according to figures obtained Friday by the Banner-Herald under a Georgia open records request. Martinez will make $310,300, up from $290,000.

Three other coaches will now make at least $235,000: Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will receive $267,500, recruiting coordinator/ defensive line coach Rodney Garner will earn $253,301 and offensive line coach Stacy Searels' salary is $235,400.

Georgia coaches collectively will earn $1.91 million, not including bonuses, in annual compensation. That's on par with what Bobby Petrino's new staff at Arkansas will make, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Martinez, whose defense has ranked in the top 20 in fewest points and yards given up each of his three years as coordinator, is still making less than the $350,000 salaries of Arkansas defensive coordinator Willy Robinson and South Carolina's defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson. Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis reportedly made $325,000 last season.

Former Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will make $425,000 at Texas, according to the Austin (Tex.) American-Statesman. Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables salary recently was boosted to $315,000.

Georgia released its salary figures a day after it announced that coach Mark Richt received an $800,000 raise to bring his annual package to $2.8 million. Richt said Thursday that he determines how to spread out the compensation on his staff. "I get a pool of money that I'm allowed to decide maybe how it gets dispersed," Richt said. "I can only make a request on behalf of the staff. I'm at the mercy of what is given to us."

New tight ends coach John Lilly got a salary of $157,600 after arriving from Florida State. He replaced David Johnson, whose salary was $147,290 at Georgia. Johnson left to become offensive line coach at West Virginia, where he will make $225,000, according to the Charleston (W.Va.) Gazette. The figures for Martinez, Bobo and Garner include additional compensation for endorsements.

Pay Hike? Is that anything like a raise? What did Miles get, a raise or a hike?

Not me needing any shock treatments, that would be YOU bammernecks! Giving raises after a 6-6 season? ROFLMAO! Bammer's ticket prices are fixing to eliminate 90% of its fan base because there is no other way to puke up all this $$$ for Satan and his flock.

Of course, the reason this is necessary is because few folks on the Planet can stand Lil Nicky and having to work with him would be akin to some of those Dirty Jobs on Discovery.

We'll see how this plays when the tahd struggle to match last season's .500 record.

Since you're a mod, why didn't you simply move this thread to its appropriate board?

Being called a redneck by a uga fan is about like being called ugly by a frog. Also, the only current coach who got a raise was Smart, and he was promoted to DC. The other two mentioned are new hires.

Didn't call y'all rednecks as that would be an insult to THEM. As I've posted numerous times, remedial reading should be mandatory for all of you bammernecks prior to allowing you on the Interweb.

Clever:dry:. About par for the course for most uga fans, though. I'd say something else, but I'm reminded of a tag line for a poster on this site, which reads something like, "Don't argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level and beats you with experience." Speaks volumes.

But what does it matter, you guys are patient, forgiving, understanding, kindhearted, just over all nice guys anyway.....right? Oh well, then just disreguard the stupid thread!:laugh:
