First day of pads today..

Reports that i've read says that Rishaw Johnson looked really good at center
he is a hoss so that will be very nice & also I heard that Mo Miller moved in to RG and John Jerry moved out to RT I kinda seen that move coming I thought that Jerry looked more athletic & longer armed than Mo.
our depth was getting praise aswell Bradley Sowell & Alex Washington will be great in the future i'm real excited about that..

I've been pulling for Daverin Geralds to find a spot the last couple of years. I'm hoping he makes it at center so Rishaw can play guard

Rishaw looks more athletic IMO but Davin will get some PT somewhere i'm sure if not start

I wish I could find my post saying keep an eye out for Markeith Summers because he has been the most consistant receiver so far & been doing very well
him and Mike Wallace are the fastest players on the team clocking 4.3's I hope he can work his way to start he adds some serious depth at WR we already have 5 very good receivers..

I don't know what reports you heard, but somewhere in them was a disconnect. I was actually at the practices and I never saw Rishaw at center, only at RG. Daverin Geralds and Brandon Green are 1 and 2 at C as of Saturday. Rishaw has been running first team RG and Mo Miller has been at RT; John Jerry has been out due to illness.
Also of note is Lockett holding down first-team DE over Hardy and Allen Walker at first-team WLB.

i'm glad someone goes to them I will only be able to come down april 12th
I thought that I seen on rivals that Rishaw moved to center.. guess not
Kentrell Lockett will be good.. Hardy must be in the academic dog house or something.. has Allen Walker bulked up? I know he has the speed needed at LB & who else at LB has been working with the 1st team?

We have so many quality receivers they say that Markeith Summers and Lionel Breaux are really good aswell I knew that Markeith would be a good one at some point..
how have they looked in pads?
we're really loaded at WR & DE

They considered Rishaw at C, but Daverin seems to have taken ownership w/ Green as backup, and Rishaw is needed elsewhere for depth.
Hardy's problem, from what I have heard, is his lack of focus. He is not always 'there', i.e. giving it all or paying attention. He was like this last season as well.
Walker, from what I understand from talking to people in the know, has been good at absorbing the new style of defense and has 'woken' up, but the hope is still for Trahan to claim the spot when he gets here.
As of Saturday the '1st' offense was:
LT-Oher, LG-Neely, C-Geralds, RG-Johnson (in for Miller), RT-Miller (in for J. Jerry, who is ill), TE-Traxler, RB-Eason, FB-Cook, QB-Snead, WR-Wallace, WR-McCluster, WR-Hodge

The '1st' defense was:
DE-Tillman, DE-Lockett, DT-P.Jerry , DT-Laurent, MLB-Cornell, WLB-Walker, SLB-Palmer, CB-Mouzon, CB-Vaughan, SS-Sanford, FS-Brown

McCluster is an exciting player. If O would have used him in similar situations last year we could have gotten the ball in his hands since Adams and Schaffer couldn't. Dave76 goes to the practices sometimes and said another pleasant surprise has been David Traxler. He obviously knows how to block being a former tackle, but 76 said he passes the look test as a tall, thick TE that has some ups and hasn't dropped a ball. The TE position will be interesting to watch this year.

NiKka

good that is definitely what we need how has that juco looked at TE? you know?

OleMissPike
03-30-2008, 01:40 PM
apparently Traxler is holding Gerald Harris off. I think Harris is primarily a blocking TE, which is perfect for a 2 TE set; one that can block, one that can catch. They're both big guys too. Traxler is 6'6 255 and Harris is 6'5 260. TE is another position our poor QB play has hurt. Hopefully Snead's the guy to turn it all around. Robert Lane could have been the best receiving TE in the SEC but we'll never know because our QB's sucked.

Yep, it's Suck-fest 2008 right now, idk what has happened to our boys, but something just ain't right. I hope we can get it straightened out soon, or we might be watching the Regionals and Supers at home instead of at Swayze.

It sucks. I wish just once we weren't overrated in something. Oh well, looks like you're still having fun; judging by that 2:30am post I think somebody just got back from late-night

Lmao, not hardly, woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep, so decided to check out what was going on in here.

I've been so pissed about the baseball team that when I saw Dave make a comment about this past weekend, I couldn't help but oblige a little more emotion

Marshay Green switching to CB is a great position change IMO this definitely adds depth and brings more athleticism to the position.. Green has been getting 1st team reps over Dustin Mouzon who played good & made some plays last year.. Mouzon doesn't quite have the quickness of Green or Vaughn but he makes up for it with his open field tackling & expierence..

I'm hearing that Shay Hodge is looking 1st team SEC right now. I'm nervous about these Defensive back moves, but I trust in the NUTT

oh yes i've heard this also... Shay Hodge is a really good guy he plays with heart & really deserves it he has been my favorite player the past couple years... Mike Wallace & Markeith Summers have been looking really really good aswell, they certainly have some wheels WHEW we could definitely go deep ball crazy with these guys & Snead's rocket launcher of an arm

I think that moving Marshay to corner is brilliant... he is much quicker than Mouzon and would definitely add much needed depth. they says he has been playing really physical for his size

So many of you hog fans are like bad ex girlfriends. Ya say (glad to be rid of him) (I can't stand him) (you leave examples of how horrible he is like the way he buttons his shirt) yet you can't let him go. You have to know what he is doing all the time. You feel this need to let anybody in contact with him understand they should hate him as much as you do. Its an obsession that has gotten out of control. I said "so many" because there are a few not like this but so many of ya are like ditched girls at the prom dance. Please either get help or fall in love with your new coach. Nutt is ours now and the divorce between hog fans and Nutt is official.

That's funny. You're right on a few of those comments. Ex-haters are interested on what is going on in Oxford, and I think that's funny as hell. I on the other hand, am wondering how he is conducting practices. Is he still going with little or no contact at all? Does several players wear the free pass jerseys? That sort of stuff got his ass in hot water come game day at Fayetteville. I'm just curious if he learn from his pass mistakes.

And BTW. When the season is over and the fans are questioning the marriage, don't come running to hog fans to be character witnesses in divorce court..

How does Snead look? And is Davis already enrolled or does he get to Oxford in the fall?

Cianne
04-06-2008, 03:12 PM
Snead has looked pretty good so far. He's been sharp on his mid-range throws and has been fitting balls in between defenders nicely. He had an offday on Saturday as the defense stepped it up. He's still working on his three and five step drops since he spent all of his HS career in the gun and a lot of time at Texas in it.

Enrique Davis will enroll in August most likely. The running game has been kind of slow so far this spring but Coach Nix is working hard with Cordera Eason. Look for Dexter McCluster to line up in the backfield a lot more this year.
