According to the LSU student government website, a campaign is underway to officially name the Ole Miss-LSU football game. Here's the link:
LSU Student Government .:. Rivalry Text Messaging Campaign (http://www.sg.lsu.edu/news/updates/rivalrycampaign.html)
I have searched, but have found no corresponding information on an Ole Miss affiliated site.
My question is what would you call it?

"The Nutt Hat Bowl"?

It's a great idea, big rivalry game for us probably more so than the LSU fans. It would obviously need to be named something that both Ole Miss and LSU seem to hold in high regard. The website says that the name of the rivalry must share the name of the trophy, such as AR-LSU is "The Battle of the Golden Boot" or whatever it's called.
The only thing that I can think of is crawfish, seeing as how both schools have crawfish boils seemingly every day of the year. But battling for a crawfish trophy doesn't have such a nice ring to it...
Hopefully someone will come up with something good, or at least better than "Battle of the Crawfish Kings" :)

I would call it the "River Rivalry" since both states border the Mississippi River and have been extremely important to both states. It could also be called the "Whiskey War" since both schools like to party and the trophy could be a big replica of a bottle of Southern Comfort. OR it could be called the "Go to Hell Game" cause that's what everyone chants at LSU when Ole Miss plays in Tiger Stadium. In 2006 when we beat Ole Miss in overtime, I was sitting in the student section and halfway through the opening prayer the entire student section begins yelling, "Geaux to Hell Ole Miss, Geaux to Hell". Later that night as I was walking to a bar, an Ole Miss fan drove by and stuck his head out of the car and yelled, "Go to Hell LSU, Go to Hell".....just an idea.

I like the 'River Rivalry' idea, but the "Whiskey War" is great or the "Battle for the Bourbon Bottle'. Of course, with the PC-ness that has recently grasped a hold of the OM administration, any reference to alcohol will be shot down in the time it takes to down a shot. If there was someway to phrase it in a way that is not so obvious...

What about the Blues Battle or Battle For the Blues. Both Louisiana and Mississippi are culturaly rich in music, especially the Blues, seeing as how we have the Delta and you guys have New Orleans. It's something everyone could grasp, and it would be meaningful to both schools i would assume. Oxford is a one of the best music scenes in the state. I can't speak for the LSU folks, but I figure that the music scene in BR thrives as well.
The trophy could even look like this, maybe even this color, as well as a MS/LA theme to it as well

Why?
I didn't know these two even had a rivalry?
LSU already does the golden boot thing with Arkansas.
Go find your own rival, Ole Miss.
Is every conference game going have a name and/or trophy associated with it?

This is a rivalry that goes a helluva lot farther back than the manufactured rivalry that is the 'Golden Boot'. Up until the last 5 seasons, it has been back and forth; even in our losses (besides 05) we have given the Tigers all they can handle; even this years' 14-point win was closer than the score indicated in terms of on the field play.
Find our own rival: this was instituted by LSU, not Ole Miss.

I like "The Blues Bowl" for both music and if you lose, you got the blues

Well if we called it that, we'd have to change the Egg Bowl to the OMIGWA Bowl, being we have a 53-22 (70% average) series lead.

To Echo OleMissDave76, this was enacted by LSU. Besides, we are both charter members of the SEC and have played each other 96 times compared to your 53. We also have a higher win percentage that you vs LSU (40% to your 34%). If you didn't know this was a rivalry, you really don't know much about SEC football history.
How about the "Only team that cares about this game is Ole Miss" bowl
Again, see OleMissDave76's response that this was started by LSU. It's called reading comprehension, give it a shot:thumpsup:

Last time I checked, LSU is the one that instituted the gameplan to get this game called a rivalry, not Ole Miss. This game does have history, just as MSU/UM have history. There are many, many Ole Miss fans that consider LSU a bigger rival than MSU. You go to any major sporting event, especially baseball and football, and there is always, ALWAYS people that yell "Go to hell LSU", no matter who we're playing. And it's been that way as long as I've been attending games.

Very true, both for LSU and Ole Miss. We have a great rivalry. Ole Miss has been down the last few years, but there have been slobberknockers between these two in the past when you never knew who would win.

Too bad Clean, Old Fashioned Hate is already taken by Georgia and GT. I think it would be a great name for the Ole Miss/LSU rivalry since the rivalry is so old. I have an aunt who went to LSU during the 60's and she told me at Thanksgiving that she didn't give a damn if LSU lost every game as long as they beat Ole Miss..

I think Ole Miss folks who are actually from Mississippi have a bigger rivalry with State. I'm from out of state and was never very familiar with MSU, so I always considered LSU our biggest rival. That's wild you never heard "go to hell LSU" at a baseball game. As an undergraduate, I heard that phrase at every Ole Miss sporting event I ever attended and I had season football and basketball tickets and attended about 40% of the baseball games. It's probably one of those things you wouldn't notice unless you were listening for it.

If an LSU fan spills a drink it turns into a rumor of someone throwing a cup of urine. LSU fans are the biggest victims of internet rumors.

I am out of state aswell and i've sensed that the fans I met at games have hated LSU just as much as MSU... some we're actually glad that MSU was doing well at the time (before the Egg Bowl) & IDK why.... I think that MSU overachieved last year and will be 5-7 this year.

This is the e-mail the Ole Miss student body got about the rivalry name:
___________________________________
Dear Student Body,
The Ole Miss and LSU student governments have partnered together to
sponsor a campaign entitled Name That Rivalry that truly emphasizes the
established rivalry between our schools. In this campaign, we will create
a name for the Ole Miss vs. LSU game, and we will also create a trophy for
the winners of the game. With naming the game, the first step involved the
Senates of Ole Miss and LSU collaboratively selecting 5 potential names
for the game.
Now, it is your turn. The Ole Miss ASB is requesting that each member of
the student body place their input into selecting the name. To vote, go to
http://www.olemiss.edu/asbvote. Sign into myOleMiss and then click on the
link to take the survey. You can vote on one of the 5 potential names that
were selected:
Duel for the Delta
Magnolia Bowl
Magnolia Classic
The Duel Under the Oaks
The Battle for the Golden Magnolia
If you do not like these names, you can make your own suggestion in the
"Other" box. You can vote as many times as you wish. The last day to vote
will be next Monday. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to make history as
you get to name a new tradition.
Sincerely,
Artair Rogers and Matt Hopper
ASB Co-Directors of Student Involvement

That's an easy question to answer. The magnolia is the state flower of Louisiana just as it is in Mississippi.
